miserable ratings again for the GGA

a big drop from the Ulster championship to the Munster & Connaught ones but at 150k the GGA certainly hasn’t caught the imagination of the popualce

For a moment I was under the assumption that this was the hurling (or “stick hurling”) game from earlier in the month.

I’m very impressed that RTE managed to sway a whole 149 people to watch Cork play Tipp in football (or “GGA football”)

Interesting to see a domestic sport rank involving two teams from small pockets of Ireland do so well in the rankings compared to the International Soccer games for the side that represents the entire country.

Now tell me, what are the viewing figures like the the domestic soccer game on RTE and eir Sport?

for all the hype about the GGA & TV they are only getting 150k to watch the much hyped and loved championship

pitiful

@Tim_Riggins this chump is looking for me to use my stats against myself :grinning:

I was asking you an honest question. if you don’t know the answer or are too embarrassed to say then that’s fine.

Indeed, boasting the 3rd and 4th most viewed programmes on that list. They were beaten only by a pivotal qualifier the the World Cup. Not bad for the early rounds of the Championship.

A big football game gets 10 times that amount mate

A GGA Fan

  1. the pre season cups don’t matter
  2. The league doesn’t matter
  3. The early round of the championship doesn’t matter

I never said it doesn’t matter, just that it wouldn’t, typically, draw as large an audience as the latter stages of the Championship.

And a big GAA match gets watch by almost 8 times that amount
mate.

not sure about that mate

700k the all Oireland finals get and you would be lucky to get 400k for a semi final

Rugby & football steamroll the GGA in terms of viewing numbers

No that’s not correct. See below and remember that Sky Sports get around 40-50k viewers (not taking the UK viewing figures and Sky Go into account) for the big games, See here http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/columnists/paul-rouse/go-figure-how-the-gaas-sky-numbers-really-stack-up-377396.html

sorry mate, I go by the Nielsens ratings

No GGA semi finals in your list?? :astonished:

Are you really saying to me only the All Ireland finals are popular amongst Irish people and there are no other big games

a shocking admission

Check Mate

Does it surprise you that a game involving 2 minority counties would attract a third of the audience of a pivotal world cup qualifier of the national soccerball team?

it certainly does, I was led to believe that the GGA was popular in Oireland

I have the figures from the newspaper of record for 2015. http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/all-ireland-final-the-most-watched-programme-this-year-1.2360468

Some 2014 figures from RTE

So well below the Euros and a huge loss of interest year on year for the GGA

it gets worse

btw, don’t give me RTE massaged figures in future
