The Grand National - The Blue Riband of Horse Racing

None of these horses would exist if it wasn’t for racing. It’s not a case of rewilding them. They’d cause carnage if they weren’t in racing facilities.

The bred would cease to exist very quickly.

1993 vibe off this.

Over the John Hanmer Melling Road.

Galvin gone

This is like The Misfits with those loose horses.

Carnage

Minella Trump is going to win.

Down the glen.

Cruised it.

That didn’t look good at the first fence. Hope young Jack Foley the jockey that came off there is okay. I’d know his father Ger very well.

Derek fox couldn’t read or write when he joined Lucinda Russell’s. They helped him a lot and I read somewhere he brings young lads over from Sligo who have similar difficulties.

Two Grand Nationals now for Derek Fox and last year’s winner Noble Yeats defended his title in admirable manner notching fourth this year.

The Grand National is Sligo’s race, the rest of us just get to watch it.

Tough race to watch

Paddy had 27 out of the 40 entrants and couldn’t win it.

Did Scotland have many runners in the field apart from having the winner?

Looks like poor oul’ Hill Sixteen was the horse which broke his neck and then got shot in the head at the first fence.

Joins the roll of honour with Dark Ivy, Roll A Joint, Smith’s Band, One Man and other noble horses who suffered horrific deaths at Aintree.

We hardly knew ya, Hill Sixteen. Off to the incinerator.

Any comment from McCoy or any of the other cheerleaders to this latest addition to the roll of carnage?

Hey, at least its not just the gamblers whose lives are ruined

He said “They died doing what they loved.”

Seems to be some concern for Jonny Burke who fell at The Chair riding Sam Brown.
