Great stuff. That’s the type of policies we need. It encourages the individual to make a better choice and can benefit them too. A win win win situation
Schools, clubs & companies can too
The Greens have left us at the mercy of Mother Russia
Imagine having the foresight to build a LNG terminal
We don’t get our gas from Russia
We may not but we now competing with with countries that do for the sources we do use and the overall price is skyrocketing. If we had an LNG terminal we will also profit from it. The great thing about this infrastructure is it can be converted to use biogas immediately, allowing it to be future proof. We need to move to green technology bit a hard change is not possible. Natural gas should be a transition fuel.
Imho the green party are driven by the ideology without going into the details of the complexity of changing our energy mix.
they having principles against fracking is a good thing
Moving to green technology will take time & we are on that road, in the meantime we are increasing our gas storage capacity to ensure we dont run out.
Relying on a Russia for energy isnt a good place for europe and not investing in green technology earlier was a mistake
More Wind & Solar energy.
Can you get onto Eamon about using our own recycled plastics for production as opposed export?
Nuclear.
No thanks
The ideological stance against it is anti-science
you cant build a bike lane in Ireland without Nimbys, you think nuclear can happen in Ireland quickly enough to meet our climate commitments?
I’m just the ideas man.
The mandarins can sort the details.
I’m reading stories from UK of people paying half their income on heat and power. It may not be that bad here yet but it’s coming. If we can’t do nuclear I hope there’s an interim plan over next decade.
Thankfully you won’t be making any decisions.
Unfortunately, the Greens hitched our wagon to over developing wind farms which blight the landscape and are an unreliable source of energy.
Turning their and our back on the natural gas resources we have with no alternative plan beyond a wish and a prayer will go down in history as an act of unparalleled self sabotage.
We had a company begging us to build an LNG terminal and they’ve done everything to delay and eventually cause the deal to collapse.
They seem to be against everything but no real plan for the alternatives. It’s just all broad stroke buzzwords.
As opposed to decades of FF/FG ignorance on such matters?
Yes, choosing renewables over gas will go down as self sabotage.
