Gabriel burn
One can only smile at his similes.
I’d say Gabriel never plumbed that level of shite.
What would you need to get from a B3 to a B2? Can you go beyond a B2 if you wanted
That’s what scheme says. I was enquiring what that would involve for average home but the @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy started with the misogynistic swearing
@gman and the boys have already doubled the prices they were charging to take into account the grant. Retrofitting will be the bidness to be in for the next ten years
Was actually in an advisory board meeting today and this cropped up. Have found previously that to be eligible for these grants you had to go over and beyond building regs to be eligible and that you don’t end up saving any money but that you would have a more efficient home. Most people tho don’t give a shite about being the optimum rating and prefer to have savings rather than more insulation or air tightness so for many was not really worth the hassle of them. There doesn’t seem to be any release yet on eligibility or what you need to install and how much you get back so be interested to see the finer details of it. Might suit someone already in the process of doing works and this may help cover costs not previously covered.
It is a 100% grant for people in fuel poverty
Eamonn Ryan on a high now on news
That’d be great. I’d be surprised to hear someone getting the work under this though and have no contribution to it. This is where it doesn’t help, in that some people don’t have the 10 or 20k to fund the works to get a grant that adds another 10 or 20k onto it.
He’s very entertaining.
He thinks heat pumps are the future.
What about diesel cars?
It’s 100% free for people who have fuel allowance
80% of the costs for small jobs like attic insulation etc
50% for deep retrofitting with low interest loans available
Sounds really positive but the proof will be in the pudding
Diesel cars aren’t the future mate
I would argue that cars aren’t the future
Absolutely. Hopefully it does help. It’s a bad cycle for people, poorly insulated houses so spend more on fuel, but can’t afford to improve the house so never ending cycle.
Yes, and the funding is coming from the carbon tax for it. So in theory, as things improve the carbon tax take decreases but there is less need to use the funding from it as houses are insulated better
This was all part of the PFG and sounds really good on paper especially the 100% grants for though that need it. If there is a large uptake, hopefully the resources are there to do the work
Also, the greens need to get a load of things in place before the next election as they won’t be reversed.

What about diesel cars?

Car numbers will decline
As I understand it heat pumps need external insulation or they aren’t worth a cod. External insulation on a semi d is about 25k.
It’s a good idea but you’d wonder who’ll build all the new houses and do all the retrofitting
With the inflation nunbers we are starting to see another influx of East European tradesmen. I was dealing with a Moldovan electrician this evening. These lads are brining more in on the chain emigration model.
They don’t. External insulation is great and works well but a heat pump system works efficiently with well insulated and air tight houses. The type of insulation is not the determining factor. External insulation is also the most expensive system at the moment
