The Green shit Party - Backtracking to get things done- now incorporating waste of monies by FG

We are connected to the european grid

Build all the green energy. I’m all for it. Gas is the back up. You won’t allow that. Nuclear is the other back up. You won’t allow that.

Battery technology isn’t there yet. So we are at the whims of others until it is.

A private company were going to spend their money on giving us an alternate gas supply. Which could have helped more houses switch from coal in the interim. Or allow Moneypoint to change over etc.

The Germans were connected to the Russian pipeline. Until they weren’t.

where did i say i wont allow it, i said to reach our climate commitments , building nuclear will take too long

you seem to be saying importing energy from Europe is a risk but importing it from american companies is safe.

now back to this point “Or God forbid we could exploit our own Gas supplies.”

flesh that out please?

are you suggesting that we havent been doing that and we have loads of untapped gas? The Corrib field is depleted & we havent found many commercial gas fields in the last 60 years - as an expert in finding & exploiting Gas, where exactly is this untapped gas

You’re wasting your time and breath @Julio_Geordio .

This is the scutter you’re dealing with.

An island of wind farms and golf courses.

Amo earning her 85k

I heard from a good source that they were very close to implementing rolling blackouts earlier in the week after wind generation collapsed. A few of the power stations were on Amber alert and close to moving to red.

Tidal generators might be a better plan.
The tide is always on the move…

just to confirm your qualifications in this field?

As usual the English are showing us how to do it.

Tidal energy is an emerging energy source that is similar to ocean currents, but it has a much higher price tag than wind and solar. During a small-scale demonstration project, a tidal energy system costs as much as $130 per megawatt-hour, compared to about $20 for wind. In addition to these high up-front costs, tidal energy requires extensive engineering work and is not yet commercially available.

Tidal energy is not commercially available yet, and the technology is still in the pre-commercialization stage. Currently, around 29 MW of tidal energy capacity is installed in the world, with another two MW on the way in the UK. Currently, UK tidal energy projects totaling 124 MW are at an advanced pre-installation stage and are prepared to enter a government energy system auction round at the end of 2021. A new national scale resource estimate concludes that tidal energy will meet approximately 11% of the UK’s annual electricity demand.

I think I’ve said this on here before but the Marine Institute are currently engaged in a large scale sea-bed mapping project. They are mapping the entire sea-bed of the Irish coastal waters, in one of the biggest projects of it’s type in the world.
Among other things, the results can be used to determine the best possible sites for future off-site wind or tidal energy projects.

I see the north is implementing a system that i have mentioned several times on here. A point to defend the purposed LNG plant in limerick that was deined by the greens, then they go with a temporary solution and adding an additional levy to our energy bills to pay for it.

You cant argue with idiots

I dont think the North is the bemchmark mate

Wvery sustainable change we make is positive. The challenge is big but we need to have a vast energy mix to remove fossil fuels

What a joke.
I’m not sure who is worse.
