Wouldnt go that far but I see where youre coming from
Why? This sort of inverted snobbery drives me mental.
I took the kids last year. A misery of a day. Pay through your teeth to look at stuff you donāt want to buy, and then be told that paying through your teeth doesnāt actually get you to see any jumping. For that privilege youāll have to pay again, except theyāre arenāt any ticketsā¦ And that public terrace is a fucking death trap. The concrete is crumbling, the stairs are a tragedy waiting to happen and thereās no limit to punters allowed on, never mind the fact that thereās not a single staff member paying a blind bit of heed to any of it.
The kids area is a grand place for some aspirational D4 halfwits to get their photos taken while supposedly having fun while sitting on beanbags, but thereās fuck all consideration given to actual kids. BOD would probably love it right enough if a low ranking royal was there, or at least a Taoiseach.
The bar isnāt even a bar, itās an afterthought of a thoroughfare where a bunch of middle class wannabees pretend to be posh totty or let on they have some vague connection to the horsey set.
That rds crowd need someone to sit them down and tell them that the brits are gone for the best part of a century. Theyāll whimper for a while and then theyāll be ok.
A load of utter utter shite.
'the social calendar '. Think about that for a minute
worth the admission price alone ā¦Ronan might even be there in support
My auld pair are hitting up to this on Friday. The auld lad who would get a few likes on the roaster thread if a few stories were told has been talking of going to this for as long as I can remember. We sourced him a few tickets and he is like a child waiting for Christmas. His only ever other trips to Dublin were for AI finals so Iād hazard a guess this will be his first venture into D4. I am looking forward to his blow by blow account of the day.
He surely went to the Spring Show back in the day??
He never did. He would have a gra for horses as he worked them before the tractor arrived.
His holidays would be built around 3 days at the ploughing and a number of horse fairs/agricultural shows around the country. Bank holidays didnāt exist but church ones did.
its going to be A difficult week for all my gang as itās two years on from one of our good friends death. He fell asleep driving home from the show in 2017. Last year a lot of us skipped it but everyone is making the effort to attend this year.
That isnāt a very nice comment.
No man should lose his life as a result of the horse show. My thoughts are with you and his family and friends.
Crass is the word for it.
No doubt the usual suspects will defend him. When it comes to me and my friends it seems any thing goes.
Thereās no need to go indulging your martyr complex either. What your friends donāt know about wonāt bother them.
Pathetic
there is a nasty campaign being waged against you
My missus is realising a life long ambition by heading up to this tomorrow with one of the kids,
It was one of the highlights of summer as a kid, Eddie Macken was a God
Great day out. Friday is one of the best nights of year in town.
