Would there be many bowls clubs south of the border? There is a great one here that I already have my eye on for when retirement comes. That part of Scotland between Edinburgh and Glasgow is the only place I know of where someone anyways youthful would partake in the game and not be considered odd.

Plenty in Greater Dublinshire. A lot sparser beyond The Pale.

Clontarf Golf Club is actually Clontarf Golf and Bowling Club. There are a couple of bowling greens in there.

Sportslink in Santry has a few greens and an active club also.

He had a last-minute winner chalked off for offside against Fulham.

Looks talented but impossible to know how players of that age will develop.

Tell me about it!

I think clubs have been deliberately firing in young lads of late to jack the fee they might get for them. Presumably knowing they have no idea if they’ll kick on or not so if they can get a fee now take it instead of playing the long game.

I think in this case, with a 15-year-old before he signs professional papers, you would only get a nominal fee for him leaving (if any).

I think the reason they’re giving him gametime is with Man Utd & Newcastle sniffing around him, it’s showing that there is a clearer pathway to first-team football at Sunderland (and so they may get a fee further down the line).

Sunderland have changed model recently to basically signing lots of young players from top academies who want to play first-team football as well as undervalued players who are out of contract. Seems to be working so far; so much better than having journeymen has-beens looking for one last payday; instead, you have players who are desperate to prove themselves so that they can get a big move.

Thick Fermanagh accent “You can’t defend against that”

Well one of your 3 lads nearby could try pick up the lad screaming for the ball all on his own on the 21

This time 10 years ago I was travelling. Was in Rio and went to a game in the Maracana. Flamengo vs some other crowd. Zico was rolled out at half time for his 60th birthday. The crowd went mental as he did a few keepy uppies.

Cool story bro…time flies
