Like a good overhead pull its day is done. A well executed drop kick is a savage skill.

Joe Sheridan was the last great exponent of it. I’m pretty sure one of the Offaly Lowrys got a great goal for Mayo in a Connaught final 85 off a 50 yard drop kick pass.

Even a drop puck is a great skill, nothing like the feel of a sweet connection on one.

I used to play football underage with an auld plodder, he had to drop kick it every time as he hadn’t mastered any other way to kick it. He’d get some serious distance in them to be fair. He was clane useless though.
