Yeah, it was a bit messy this year too. Hard to know. They shoulda won that. Is it his fault they went to sleep at the start of each half? Can he be blamed for 19 wides and experienced players taking wrong decisions repeatedly? I dunno.
Nah def canāt be blamed for wides unless game plan at times is āshoot on sightā which some of the shots definitely were
Funnily enough, a line I heard him say before was ā95% of the time the team that shoots more winsā. He might be right in that but it didnāt work for Laois today
Agreed though - Iām not picking on him, Iām just noting how in reality itās a big disappointment for Laois
Anybody who knows hurling will be in agreement with me.
Itās not that long since Offaly were beating Limerick out the gate on their own ground, Limerick struggling over Laois by the skin of their teeth in a qualifier, and fielding scab teams in the championship.
Hard to take a man serious who is trying to build a business on stats and the intricacies of hurling matches yet writes a tactical breakdown during the week referring to David Fitzgeraldās importance at midfield for Clare despite not hurling there since 2018.
Iād say he has spent 90% of his time the last three years and close to 20 championship matches at right half forward with the odd few minutes switched over to the other wing or full forward.
Just watched this back. Offaly were blessed. I have the same feeling mentioned above that it might not have been the worst final to lose. Youād worry for them next year. Iāve not seen much of them but reckon Johnny Kelly isnāt up to much. Heās been underachieving with Offaly for years now. He was the coach with Fennelly when they went to Christy Ring. Heās terribly negative. Dan Bourke playing as a deep lying midfielder. Why pick Screeney if youāre going to abandon him up there marking two lads trying to win Hail Mary balls.
On a positive note, I love watching Cillian Kiely hurl. Big wild bear of a lad who seems to be trying to restrain himself half the time. Born for winter club hurling, where weāre likely to see a good bit of him for the foreseeable
