And why wouldnât he, The Donald is keeping him in long trousers.
Yes
Cool story.
I hadnât time to study poetry so spent lunch before English Paper II studying Kinsella. I chose him cos he had the least number of poems on the curriculum. A good friend came up and asked who I was studying. He lolled and told me Kinsella had come up the previous year and wouldnât come up again. Kinsella did what Tipp canât and did the two in a row.
Those who say the Leaving Cert doesnât matter are wrong. Deciding on Kinsella that lunch time and getting my first preference course in college turned me in to the incredible pool player I am today.
Were you a Trap man mate?
My handwriting slants slightly rightwards
At school you used to see a few weirdos whose handwriting would slant left
Thatâs just about understandable if youâre left handed but some of them were right handed
Imagine being right handed with left slanted handwriting
Freaks
As for the political dimensions of my answers, I was primarily influenced by JK Galbraithâs 1977 television series âThe Age Of Uncertaintyâ with a lesser influence being Keynes from all the times Iâve travelled through Milton Keynes on the train
This would also have worked had I been sitting A levels in English but Iâm pretty sure Milton wasnât on the Eire syllabus
I brought a 2 litre bottle of home brew beer into the exam and drank most of it
By the end my hand was almost invisible to me I was writing so fast
Incidentally Iâve always wondered* whether MK Dons have a supporters group called the MK Ultras
*For about the last two minutes anyway
Cramming was great for a lot of subjects, though I did it a lot more of it in college.
Chartered Accountancyâs loss is the INTERNETâS gain.
Biggest snowflake programme of all time on RTE. Some YouTuber called Stephen Byrne goes back to do leaving cert again 10 years on. He documents how his previous experience doing leaving cert was demeaning and threw him into emotional turmoil when he was dealing with his sexuality. He talks to Ryan Tubridy who derides the pressures it puts on young people etc etc etc. This all presented with an ensemble of foreboding music that wouldnât be out of place in the HBO mini series of Chernobyl. Itâs shocking what has become of this country . Everyone is a victim.
He has his own show on 2fm I think
One is a serious business .
Mercifully, as the country spirals into the ever increasing maelstrom of madness that youâve outlined, you have landed in an oasis of common sense, wise counsel and a never ending supply of occasionally good advice.
Youâll never regret seeking wisdom from your support team here.
Now have you ever tried the old shoving yourâŚ
None more so than yourself it would seem
I think in your own case itâs just your imagination though
Taken from the Irish Times analysis of English Paper today - âPerhaps the highlight of the paper was its last question where students were encouraged to articulate self-awareness in a debate speech for or against the motion: âWe are a self-obsessed generation.â
I thought it was a very astute essay title which would serve as introspection for many teenagers up and down the country. On evidence of your internetting today Iâm not sure you could contain your rantings to a 1000 words or time allotted though. The key is to not take yourself so seriously.
It isnât me that has a problem taking themselves too seriously mate
Iâm very self deprecating, witty and open minded even if I say so myself, and thereâs no contradiction in saying so
You on the other hand come across as yet another humourless curmudgeon with an imaginary victim complex
Just what the forum needs, we have a serious lack of them, oh wait
News to break this week, LC is to be cancelled.
Thatâs a massive decision if confirmed, especially after the âby hook or by crookâ comment a few weeks back. I think the powers that be will move heaven and earth to run the LC however especially if the numbers keep improving like they are.
Mrs Mac who is a teacher (cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy) has been told by some others that itâll be cancelled in favour of predictive marking. Iâd say itâll be carnage if that happens. Legal challenges all over the place
Im in favour of predictive grading, in the current circumstances.
With the new grading system of H1,H2 etc., you have an acceptable margin of error imho.
Having taught my students over two years, Iâm well adept to say what standard they are at.
If all evidence, class tests, class engagement tell you a student is a H3, then he or she probably is. There will of course be outliers, and the latter should be accomodated by an appeal in the form of a written exam in September.
Predictive grades depends upon professionalism of teachers. Unfortunately, some may fall down in this regard.
I know all the arguments against predictive grading, and I agree with many. However, the same people fail to put forward a viable alternative in event of leaving cert being cancelled.
What about the lads that would cram all their study into the last three weeks and get a result?
