Smoked a lot in my younger days Dan-have no interest in it at all anymore. It always had the opposite effect on me anyway and I could never sleep and stayed up til 3 in the morning watching South Park reruns and eating bourbon creams.

Lads, if you have an infection in your gums or whatever from a dodgy tooth, will they do the whole job at once or will they give you anti-biotics first to clear up the infection and tell you to come back and get the offending gnasher removed at a later date?
Iâm sure some of you bumpkins are well gummy at this stage and in the know.
Infection means the offender will be removed. Then, antibiotics. The relief when that fucker is removed will be akin to blowing your load.

Depends on whether you have an abcess Thrawneen .
If you do generally they give you antibiotics first and then remove. If not its normally straight out.
If you think the pain of the tooth see what happens if you get dry socket afterwards. Im paying a further price now because the public health dentist in gorey when I was a kid was an incompetent version of the dentist in the marathon man

Funny the public health dentist when I was growing up was a roaring alcoholic. You hardly needed an anaesthetic. Him breathing fumes into your gob would cover most jobs. As a result I entered adult life looking like a poor mans Shane McGowan. Mother and child scheme me bollix.

If its an infection, youâll get antibiotics first before they treat the damaged tooth. And itâs the cunt of ones (Flagyl) that you cannot drink so much as a sip on or youâll be violently puking bile from the tips of your toes for hours
Just off the back of a bastard of an infection - had to go 2 rounds of them - you canât even drink for 2 days after. Tip for you Thraw - make sure you get him to script you the extra strength ones. You wanna kill this fucker off first time
I had 2 teeth taken out when I was young. Turned out the chart was someone elses and he took out the wrong ones, had to go back in the following week to get another 2 out.

artfoley, any idea why they call it a âdry socketâ, ive heard bad stories about these but ive never gotten an accurrate description of what it is.

Thanks for all the advice lads. Got the tooth pulled this morning. He said it was just a dead tooth. He didnât give me any medication (that I was aware of anyway) and just scripted me penicillin in case I needed it.
Important question: can I have a hugh hottles watching the hurling this evening, or what???
