update,
had the BP measured again there an hour ago and still reading at 160/93,
i havent experienced any pains in the chest or palpitations so i assume ill pull thru,
anyone know how long itll take before it returns to normal?
Did my ankle again tonight at indoor. I am officially retiredā¦ a sad day but its just not worth it as I repeatedly go over on the thingā¦ has anyone sufferd from this and have they sought an operation to correct it?.. Really pissed off as I was just coming back to full fitness after the last time which was a chip to the bone.
we really need Kevās advice at this stage.
I blame the excessive core work i was doing for my heart condition.
iāve been having my ankle strapped by a physio for every training and match for three years. i spent months doing the strengthening exercises that are supposed to build up the muscles and prevent repeat injuries, but they never worked for me.
if you buy the correct strapping and get someone to show you how, you could strap your own. it doesnāt prevent the injury just reduces the damage.
Like you mention, the weekend could have something to do with it. Of course you may just be that way as well, you should get checked out, you possibly may need to watch high intake of Red meat or any number of things. Do you know your blood type?
To the other lads, you can actually weaken the ankle if you strap it for too long, thats not helping at all FOF. The thing about ankle ligament damage is the only real way to ensure repair is a good long break, the severity can dictate that of course, but iād add 2 weeks to whatever a physio tells you to do. Thats if the long term bothers you. Alot of GAA players have a poor mentality to that though in my experience, they only see the next game, and sometimes are taking (literally) years off their career by playing on.
Yeah I have thought about going down that road but just dont know If i have the willā¦ had it relatively strapped tonight (basic strap) which did prevent more damage.
very aware of that, however, i had three autumns off with gym/weights only to strengthen and i invariably had a tear again in in jan or feb.
Iām experiencing both of the recent problems mentioned on this thread.
Those familiar with TFK Astro history will recall my ankle ligament damage suffered a year or so ago (photos were provided at the time). Iāve never really recovered from that to be honest. Never really give it enough rest, sounds stupid but you can get by on a weak ankle for a few weeks. Itās swollen after every game but usually ok after a few days. Does seriously reduce my power in that foot in tackles and blocks etc but find my mobility is generally fine.
As Kev says rest is the best cure. Iām too good to rest unfortunately.
Iāve had consistently high blood pressure for about 5 or 6 years. Sometimes itās just the particular test that causes the reading though. I have it tested fairly regularly and itās always high but Iāve had blood tests and worn a BP monitor strapped to me for 24 hours and that turned out ok (probably didnāt help the diagnosis either way that I was drunk for most of that time and used said monitor as a drinking game with others - so it wasnāt on me for a fair chunk of the time).
Diet is reasonably ok and donāt eat too much red meat or anything. Consistent advice is that Iām too young to be going on BP tablets because you never get off them. So wait and see what happens type thing.
Eat more red meat I reckon.
I made shite of my ankle back in 2007, tore the ligiments in itā¦stuggled big time for about 6 months with itā¦Went to a different physio with it and he gave me this strapping and showed me how to do it, twas the job, would wear it the whole time training/playing, never so much as another bother with it while strapped, although strapping it was a chireā¦went back to him last year with some other problem and he gave me a few exercises which I used to do everyday, granted I took a break for a few months at the start of the year but havenāt had to strap the ankle this year at all and have had no problems with it thankfully(touch wood)ā¦
I mean total rest, no weights, nothing. Now i know you have to get on with life, but ever notice professional sports men on crutches for the smallest things, its to get total rest and weight off it.
I did the ligaments in my ankle a good few years back, but it was two weeks before a west final so got it strapped up really tight for the match and played away. Iād say I did some long term damage though because I now have a big hard lump, nearly like a 2nd ankle bone in the spot where I did them. It used to get really sore, but hasnāt come at me in a couple of years thankfully.
think you arenāt picking me up here, iāve had several assesments on it done everything i was told, including three months of full rest followed by three months of progressive strength exercises. return to training its fine, first match back it goes again.
the strapping is fine, itās preventing further long term damage and once you get used to it, you wouldnāt even know its there.
I would disagree it is preventing long term damage. The fact you say you wouldnāt even know its there shows you are relying on it.
Are you going to wear ot every day all day for the rest of your life? I doubt it. It is absolutely certain you will cause an imbalance between the 2 ankles. This leaves you open to a weakness when you are older. But if you are ok with that then belt on, i did myself, so iām not preaching. Just warning you that no physio can be certain you will not be affected from constant strapping.
I donāt know, but did you look after it correctly from day 1, the first time you injured it? It could be a carry on from the first injury.
Basically it sounds like you have weak ankles, ans should probably give up high impact sport, but of course that is unlikely to happen.
Ya you should quit F_O_F you soft cunt.
Fist of Fury should quit posting on here too the clown.
:o Go way you nerd and fix tfk bookie.
Another ankle injury to be diagnosed please lads.
Had a tough time walking to the DART this week with my ankle and then my whole shin up to my knee fairly aching as I was walking. Took a bit of a knock on it last week but it swells up every week so didnāt take much notice of the swelling. Only today I noticed my shooting was a little off and on inspecting my ankle thereās something hard sticking out a bit in a lumpy sort of thing. Iāve attached some photos to aid the diagnosis.
Thereās a bit of swelling there so the natural shape isnāt immediately obvious but Iāve helpfully encircled the jutty out bits.
Thoughts?
You have fat ankles anyway, thats for sure!!!
Looks like a pressure sore, as in probably ligament damage inside there and the muscle (blood) is being pushed out against it. Again, rest, but self massage might help it. Break it down over a few days.
throws up
