I had the privilege as a young fella chopping down a huge oak tree on my uncles back field, took it down with mostly an axe, took me a week, Lord was i strong back then, the tree must have been 80 years old. He came over with the saw to finish the job. ‘a nuisance tree’. Long story short it got me fit for the hurling and went on to win a County in hurling. My strength and conditioning was second to none, I could drive the ball an extra 20 yard. That old oak tree, every time I look at the medal I think of it. Chop em all and chop em.

There’s a Larkin fella standing for the Council out Leixlip direction. His posters consist of him with a pose of Jim Larkin similar to the statue on O’Connell Street with superimposed GPO etc behind him,
I don’t know if he’s related or if he is even a socialist but the poster caught my attention anyway.
It did its job so.
