The long and bumpy road to Super Bowl XLVI

Sooner or later it won’t happen for the Broncos and they will get an awful beating I’d rather they lose sooner than later.
The last thing we want is a Championship or SuperBowl blowout.

Ryan Clark was a huge loss to the Steelers.

They got taught a lesson in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtrs by the Patriots I thought. I could see them doing it again next week too.

They were hammered by the Bills in week 16 also

And they got a grand total of 3 points at home to the Chiefs. They stumbled into the playoffs, but beat one of the best teams of this era. Credit where its due in fairness to them. They set up a good playbook for Tebow and it works well when it comes off.

I tend to find those the most fun.
There is no logic in some of this stuff.

History
Pittsburgh have the best pass defence in the league.
Pittsburgh give up a total of 2 passes in the 16 game regular season of 40+ yards.
They average conceding 14.2 points a game.

Denver have the second worst passing offense in the league.
They average scoring 19 points per game. Against a team like Pittsburgh they’d be lucky to hit double figures.
They pass for on average 150 yards per game. They have had 8 40+ yard passes in the regular season.
In their last 5 games they have scored a grand total of 3 points in the 2nd quarter of their games.

So what happens?
In the 2nd quarter alone:

 1. Pittsburgh concede more points than they usually do in a full game in 15 minutes. [20]

 2. Pittsburgh concede three passes of 40 yards. More than they have conceded in their 16 previous games combined.

 3. Denver score over 6 times more than they have in their previous five 2[sup]nd[/sup] quarters combined.

In the full game:

 1. Denver match 50% of the total of 40 yard passes they had for the full season.

 2. Denver throw for 316 yards. More than double their average.

 3. Ben is still a double hard bastard. They said the swelling on his ankle won't go down for a few MONTHS...

Putting aside the freak 2nd quarter and the one play encore in overtime, Denver scored 3 points in 45 minutes of football. You can not and will not keep winning like that.

I can’t stand the Patriots but I hope they pummel the shit out of Denver.
Brilliantly put,agree 100%

Depends on the context and who you are supporting.
As a neutral, a blowout blows.

If a fraud is to be found out though, I like it to be on the biggest stage, a la Dublin V Kerry in 09 or Kilkenny v Waterford in 08, but I get your point.

I would like to reiterate however that I dont believe Tebow isa fraud, he is in fact the second coming, which is appropriate in the year the Roses are going gigging again.

It’s that erratic unpredictability which makes Tebow and the Broncos dangerous. They’re liable for anything

You can say that again.

That’s going to happen regardless of who meets the Ravens in the Champ game IMO. The biggest fraud of this season is the Patriots, who purport to be an elite team despite having Zero wins against teams with a winning record all year. The Broncos poxed their way into the playoffs alright but at least they never claimed to be superbowl champs in waiting.

The Patriots will win

It all

hmmm. flano kind of fucks up my point.

but I’m not sure anyone thinks the Patriots will win it all, or have the best team. I certainly dont anyway, and only for such a handy back 8 on the schedule, we wouldnt be top seeds. in saying that, I dont fear the Ravens coming to Foxboro should we fell God almighty. But I’m not sure anyone who follows the Patriots would claim them to be an elite team. A team that is 32nd on defence can never ever claim to be elite. nor would I think anyone claims them to be superbowl champs in waiting. I think its the NFCs to lose this year, and honestly, can only really see the Ravens putting up a challenge as their defence is decent and could stop one of the teams from that side.

The two NFC games this weekend are mouthwatering indeed.

I think Baltimore and New England (scum) will progress handily enough on the AFC side.

Yeah, for the first time since I started watching NFL seriously, the NFC clearly has the best teams. I even think the Eagles would have been a serious threat in the playoffs if they had managed to win a couple of those games they threw away earlier in the season.

Eh, the 15-1, defending Superbowl champ, Green Bay Packers are ranked 32nd for overall defense in the regular season.

I sort of take your point that the Patriots haven’t been shouting about winning the whole thing but you just know that classless spying fuck Belichick secretly thinks he can win it out. :pint:

They are a 2 touchdown favorite to beat Denver at the weekend, and 4/7 to get to the Superbowl, so I don’t think it’s the case that nobody thinks they can win it.

yeah sorry, the lions game changed that around, they are half a yard/game worse than the Patriots, so not exactly much in it. And they do have 8 more interceptions than the Patriots, they are that bit better at turning over the ball. Either way, the Pats defence is shite.

And of course the bookies are going to have them tipped, in fairness, they are the home team for the AFC, and usually they will be bookies favorites. Doesnt tally with your notion of claiming to be superbowl champs in waiting or purporting to be an elite team tho. That season in 07 is still well and truly in the memory. Nothing is taken for granted.

The Patriots are the Clonard of the NFL. They’ll win this weekend unfortunately but hope they get an unmerciful beating in the Championship game.

I think you very much over estimate how significant Clonard are!
