I had the Stag IPA last week. Any of stag range I’ve had have always been top class. Highly recommended
Craft = Gaylord
I’m allergic to craft beer
Most of these fcuking craft beers are Trojan horses for big breweries . The cuntology is wrapped .
A lot of them are alright. Pretty much any of them that you see regularly on tap have been bought out.
Plus you have the same companies making the same beer under different brands for the supermarkets.
Ales are where it’s at - Ales and Belgian beer.
I’ll only drink Belgian beer if i can. Alternatively i will settle for German if it’s not there. I think Moretti as well is a glorius beer on draught.
What did you think of the Gauloise beer that time? I’m having a few bottles of it here tonight for the first time, first impressions very good. The Belgians really know a thing or two about creaing beer. 6.3% alcohol content per bottle these bad boys are.
FAO of @ChocolateMice - could you recommend a beer for me to drink later please?
I’ve taken to drinking Guinness in the past 6 months or so but I find myself getting quite full after about 6 (six) pints. I had 9 (nine) pints of Guinness on Saturday night and had a nasty enough hangover.
Is there any lager option that might work for a former Heineken and Becks drinker? I’ve recently found lager to cause a bit of heartburn and indigestion.
Note: I’ll be drinking from 6.30pm to 12.30am and I don’t intend to switch to gin or whiskey. I might have a strawberry daiquiri at some stage though.
You should have no hangover off Guinness if it’s good. Not compared to lager anyways
Erdinger never made me sick but I don’t know would you manage a lot of them
I’m not a fan of those wheaty beers like Erdinger. Any other options?
Cat got your tongue, @ChocolateMice?
Erdinger can be filling too I find, stay away -
It really depends on the establishment you will be in and what they have available, bro. I’ve taken to ales the last year or so and pale ale in particular is handy for sustained drinking - Cute Hoor is a main stream ale that is readily available and not bad, and I believe it is brewed by your pals Heineken. As a Becks lover you will enjoy any form of pils (pilsner) so you could ask your barman if he has any in stock and if not go for the pale ale option.
I’m delighted to see you putting yourself out there, bro - You don;t have to be a nerd about it like @mac or @TreatyStones but we pay enough money for a pint and the least you should get is something that tastes nice and is of a decent standard instead of some of the slop that was served up and accepted for years. You could make it a little tradition of yours to try a new beer/stout/ale every week
What an absolutely lovely and helpful post.
Now wonder princess fell for you and gave you an ultimatum to move to Cork.
Smithwicks is your only man.
I presume he wants a drink with alcohol in it, mate…
I had a couple of pints of Franciscan Alex in Limerick a few weeks back. Nice enough stuff. Cc @ChocolateMice what would your opinion on that be chief?
Would you drink a pint of Smithwicks? I find it very refreshing and love a few pints of it occasionally. It gives me the hiccups very bad after 5 or 6 though so not ideal
I think it’s brewed in Kilkenny so I wouldn’t touch it.
Just drink red wine like a confident guy
