It’s a tour thing, basically Osaka-Kyoto-Kanazawa-Nagoya-Tokyo. In Kanazawa right now. I was in Tokyo three years back as well for a week.
Basically it’s the kind of country only the pickiest cunt could dislike. Polite people, great public transport, safe, clean, loads of great sights to visit. The food is also excellent and even the least adventurous of Irish people will find something they’ll enjoy. There are plenty of international restaurants as well - Chinese food is excellent over here for example.
Only downside is that it’s expensive and the hotels aren’t great. You’d be better off staying in a hostel type of place and spending your money elsewhere.
Possibly go to Osaka and Kyoto (they are right next to each other) and then the bullet train up to Tokyo (think its two hours or so). 8-10 days total. Expensive but a country you need to visit at least once.

Had a few pints last night in my favourite pub.
Started with a guest IPA, Little Fawn from white hag. Very meh.
Much better was the White Gypsys newly launched
Victor Pils. Great beer and only €4.20 a pint.
