The Mac and Treatystones Beer Thread

Having a couple of chilled Leffe, haven’t had it in yonks. A good brew.

A wonderfull brew. Did it stir up any fond memories of Antwerp?

I didn’t have any over. Mainly went for stuff I had never tasted. Drank a lot of dark beer when there.

This is the shit. Sinking a few now, unreal.

I’ve a few craft ciders from some Kinsale brewery cooling in the fridge. I’ll report later

I have an orpens in the fridge that ive been waiting to sample and im going to a wedding dry tomorrow so no better time thzn tonight

Having a few of these…

Decent whilst not being spectacular.

The Mrs landed home with a box of Sol earlier I wasn’t impressed but I’m fairly sinking them now

Sol is alright mate. Grand summer beer.

Had a few bottles of the various ales from McGraths recently. The blonde ale was good, slightly better than the pale which was also decent. Both had a good distinctive flavour, the pale one with an almost grapefruit like bitterness.

Stonewell Craft Cider. Its good tack.

I’ve drank it in the past, it’s good but not worth the premium they charge in pubs. It’s up to €6 a bottle.

Same as Bulmers Pint Bottle then?

I’ve only drank it in pubs where a pint bottle was a euro cheaper. If you are paying €6 a pint bottle you need your head examined.

Paid €5.50 last weekend in Wicklow and Cavan. I ain’t a cider drinker but in that weather I couldn’t stomach stout or ale. I’d sooner pay a premium to support a small craft brewery than a supposed Irish drink that’s made in Scotland.

If a bottle in an off licence costs €2 €3 I’d rather pay €6 for it in a pub than pay a fiver for something in a pub I can buy for less than a euro in an offie.

You wouldn’t get a pint bottle for less than s euro in an offie. You are preaching to the converted here regards craft beer/cider. I also go for Irish made craft beer where possible. I just didn’t think Stonewell was worth the price difference. 5.75 versus 4.90 in the last place I saw it for sale.

Which one did you have? I think there’s a few versions of it.

One of each of them, there’s a medium dry, normal, and low alcohol one. Had the low alcohol one after work as I was driving and the other 2 later.

Th way my stomach is this morning though, maybe I’ll avoid them in the future.

Had a couple of these last night, very nice, not as gassy as bulmers but you wouldn’t drink too many of them
