I’m not sure what minimum pricing will do really. I mean it’s already a very expensive country.
Won’t affect me much as I don’t drink the cheap stuff anymore, but it would have been a big blow to college going Julio. How much is a Bier D’Or going to be now?
I mean it’s well documented at this stage, but sure you’d buy beer from a vending machine in Europe for 50c and yet their consumption is much lower than ours. They can drink younger as well. So really it’s more of a societal thing than a money thing.
It’s just a tax on the poor and the young at the end of the day. It’s a marginal thing for the well off, a few euros here or there makes no odds to them.
In a family with an alcoholic does this now mean less money for the wife and kids? Does the homeless addict now resort to cheaper drugs instead. Or drink methylated spirits or something. I don’t think this really addresses any of the issues tbh.

It’s cheap lager… There’s plenty of rotten tasting craft stuff too, @Lazarus usually recommends it… But having choice is a good thing. For too many years publicans served up the same unimaginative piss and charged well for it. Micro brewery pubs have been going strong in Canada/US for decades… People like new foods and new drinks. They like choice and deserve quality if forking out for it… The Irish love playing up their drinking culture yet are ridiculously unimaginative and are happy to pay for substandard quality/ drinks…
In short, don’t judge Old Hag’s Vulva IPA by its name alone.
Also better than giving money to Diageo and Heineken

There’s some amount of awful craft beer too.
I’d prefer wine to beer if drinking at home.
That’s a slippery slope if ever there was one.

They probably would in fairness. Galahad is basically like fizzy water while craft beers are very strong tasting which is why most people don’t like them
I never drank Galahad - I don’t mind strong IPAs and red ales
I prefer a bottle of stout best now
