Sad to say, but I agree with Farmer. Also the first leg in most two legged games is often cagier* before teams have to go for broke in the second.
*With the exception of Liverpool games for which cagey is too kind a word. Guantanamo Dull, I believe is a better description.
I used to agree with Farmer on that point but statistics say otherwise.
When did they ever have to stick by Beckham and Ronaldo?
Donât tell me you are talking about that time Beckham got sent off aginst the Argies? And Ronaldo for the winking? What media driven circuses they were.
I hate to say it but I was completely for Cantona that time. Dead right to do what he did. Cantona didnât subsequently hold them to ransom over a new contract though.
What about Stam? Van Nistlerooy?
I am all for sticking by players when they deserve it but Rio slapped them in the face afterwards and now he is treated like some kind of God. Short memories lads.
I, for instance, donât call Steven Gerrard a legend or anything. I rate him as a player but I donât particularly like the guy after that he did a few summers backâŚ

Iâd say Stevie G is gutted. Probably put him off his game for tonight.
Disaster today dropping points to that shower. If Middlesborough played liked that every week they would be a top 8 side. Typical. Referee bottled it. Stonewall penalty for handball in the box from Ronaldos shot. Rio going off injured. Its like last season losing all the defence and having to play substandard players like Brown and OâShea. If Gary Neville is fit Id play him against Roma on Wednesday.
They also beat and drew with Arsenal and should have taken something from Chelsea last week. Teams have good and bad days and I wouldnât take it personally that they played well.
I took it more personal that the referee didnt give a penalty for the clear handball in the box from Ronaldos shot. As it stands United need 4 wins out of 5.
Personal? Strange use of the word in this context.
I caught the second half of this and from what I saw Boro deserved what they got out of it. Ramshackle performance from United. Vidic being out has hit the team hard.
Big games left right and centre at present. The nightmare of having three firstchoice defenders injured at the key point of the season is revisiting us. Thankfully there is a bit of breathing space tonight and we should get through. But you never want to actually rely on John O Shea. For once I would advocate the three middlemen and think we should kill the game off for long periods. We know weâll have a few chances and itâs all about taking them. An early goal would settle matters. If they sense theyâll get nothing out of the game thayâll pretty much pack it in, hopefully. Sadly, I wonât get to see the game as Iâm on an Island in the Philippines at present so thereâs no coverage, but Iâm off diving with Thresher Sharks tomorrow(4-6metres long!!!) morning, so thereâs a bit of compensation there.
At least Ferdinand has a chance of playing tomorrow. Hope he wont though. I can see Fergie giving Ronaldo a rest tomorrow night. Hes played so much recently and the fact that United hold a two goal lead, Ferguson can take a chance and not play him. Hope Gary Neville gets some game time tomorrow.
Ferguson and Ronaldo get the manager and player of the month awards for March. Cant argue with 5 wins out of 5 and Ronaldo scoring 5 times. Ferguson is saying that Vidic will be back for the Blackburn game next Saturday. Thats good. Hope he can take part in this as it would be tough being thrown in to the Barca game after being out for 3 weeks.
What a crucical win. I only got to see the 2nd half as I had to make my home from work. From what I saw at half time Arsenal had a few chances and could have been ahead. Then I seen Rooneys misses. His finishing is shocking. He had at least 3 great chances especially the one from about 2 yards out that Lehmann saved. Then the 2nd half started and the Hand of Adebeyour put Arsenal ahead. Shocking that it stood. The justice was the penalty. Ronaldo fair play to him scored it twice. Then the Harg scores one of the frees of the season. You knew it was in the second he hit in. Lehmann didnt have a chance. Arsenal really should have got a goal near the end. They didnt give it up.
Shan when youâre posting links to videos from Dailymotion try and get the address of the actual video, not just the search result to point you to that video.
There are two URLs one that has /search/ and then % signs and things which is the query on the Dailymotion database. Obviously it works fine as a link. But if you just post the actual location of the video itself (without the /search and the % bits) then it will be automatically embedded on here.
What a set of three points. Saw the game late last night, 11pm kick off, on an island that experiences regular power cuts, so I missed the last 5 mins. Freaked, but I was pretty sure that we had it in the bag at that stage.
We were shocking in that first half. Engaged in a team-wide competition to see who could misplace more passes to the opposition, for the whole first half. As well as a game long game of potshots at our own keeper. Absolute shit. Adebayor bottled a super chance and they had a few more. Rooney should have scorerd twice as well but Arsenal were by far the better team til half time.
I expected boots to be flying in the changing room at half time but we came out as meek for the start of the second half as we were in the first. Shocking goal. There must have been a call as Rio left it and Eddie seemed about to come for it before inexplicably bottling it. It seemed to wake us up a bit but we might have struggled had it not been for the extraordinary idiocy of that gimp Gallas. Not content with mentlar hissy fits against Birmingham and the likes, kicking Nani off the ball for disrespecting him and bottling actually defending against Chelsea, it was a pathetic but stonewall peno. Got to give Lehmann some credit for trying his hardest to upset Ronaldo and taking the card, it was the most tense Iâve been watching a peno for ages. Super kick, both of them. We were on top pretty much from there til the end and I think a lot of Man U fans had an inkling that Hargeaves might score the free. And a Super free it was too. Arsenal are imperious bottlers at this stage. They shit themselves when it looks like they have a chance at winning anything.
All in all, a super three points, which is all that counts at this stage of the season. And itâs always nice to stuff Arsenal. Poor performances from most, including and Ronaldo. Rio was best for me, but was obviously missing the murderous Serbian, and it says a lot that a fella who had a shot at our goal and blanked the ball for their goal was our best performer. Tevez and Anderson deserve credit for their performances when they came on.
Chelsea will have been freaked watching that, as it looked for a long time like they would reap some reward. Sky will also presumably be freaked having attempted to manipulate some sort of swing in the league positions with their crazy sceduling. Quite simply, avoiding defeat at Chelsea will surely be enough to win it, but a win would be sweet.
Finally, Arsenalâs supposedly tight squad must be freaked. Almunia and Senderos blanked for an Arsehole and a lad who hasnât played in a year and a half, while Gilberto, frozen out for most of the year, playing instead of Denilson. Wenger is indeed, a managerial genius.
