The Man Utd Thread

He found the net last night but it wasnt enough. Again it was not putting the chances away that was the problem. Had great chances in the first half to go 2 up but didnt take them and it comes back to haunt the team.

Regarding Ronaldo being sent off think it was very harsh. A yellow and a telling off for both players would have been more sensible. The Portsmouth player said something to him and Ronaldo reacted. If Ronaldo went then the Portsmouth player should have got red too.

City on Sunday the perfect match for the wounded animal to strike back I feel. Has to play Hargreaves in this one.

People have been winding each other up on sport pitches for years and years. The Portsmouth lad hardly deserved a red card because he said something to Ronaldo which caused him to flip. Ronaldo was unprofessional and was sent off deservedly.

Ah Ronaldo should have lamped him. The mistake he made was doing it on the pitch. Mug players just jealous of him.

When I see a straight red being given I want to see it for something worthwhile. Bennett has a vendetta against him anyways sending him off against city for a nothing thing as well.

Ah jaysus vendetta. I dont agree with that. You have a vendetta against Bennett methinks

If City win the derby on Sunday should Ferguson be sacked?

Iā€™ve drawn up a list of candidates:

Steve Bruce.
Mike Phelan.
Mark Hughes.
Tony Coton.
Roy Keane.
Paul Ince.
Lou Macari.
Ron Atkinson.

I reckon Big Ron should get it.

Ferguson will never be sacked but regarding a replacement I would have to say that Mourinho would be the top of the list.

19th in the league after today. Really have to win now to get back up the table. The one thing I would say in Uniteds favour is Tottenhams defence is shambolic at times and the front line really should expose this. An early goal a must. If they get to half time still level the crowd will get uneasy and players will get nervous. Going for a 3.1 win tomorrow to United with Tevez to open his account.

Just glad United won. Spurs can complain all they want. Brown didnā€™t handle the ball. It was on his chest. I looked at it at least 20 times and I canā€™t see one angle that proved it hit the hand. Its ironic that was Uniteds worst performance of the season but win. It would be harsh to take that goal off Nani. He deserved it. Just get some players back now and the performances will improve.

Ollie Byrne died.

Utd had to win, I had a great day of gambling too. Well done Utd and Roma. Bogmen cheated there way to another win over the mighty Dubs. Kerry my arse!

Spot on Flano. Mu-Huck

Manchester United favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has retired due to a knee injury, according to Sky Sports News.

Solskjaer will be forever remembered in United folklore for scoring the dramatic winner in the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999.

That goal was one of almost 130 he scored for The Red Devils after joining from Molde in a 1.5million transfer 11 years ago.

He made over 360 appearances for the club, but recent seasons have been blighted by injury.

The 34-year-old did maintain a level of fitness last season, scoring 11 goals as United won the title and reached the FA Cup final.

But he did not figure during the pre-season campaign after undergoing a knee operation over the summer.

This was expected to be his final season as a player at Old Trafford, but he has now decided to announce his retirement.

Solskjaerā€™s decision to quit could prompt Sir Alex Ferguson to rethink his attacking options prior to the close of the transfer window.

Along with Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Louis Saha, Solskjaer was expected to form part of Fergusonā€™s plans up front.

But the United manager may now require further reinforcements in attack, having been linked with Bolton Wanderersā€™ forward Nicolas Anelka.

Loss of a legend.

I heard rumours of this earlier on today. Utd legend and hero. Always a fan favourite, heā€™ll be sorely missed.

Great player for the club. Always gave it his all. Will be sorely missed. He gave the United fans memorable moments like 99 against Munich. The 4 goal apperance as a sub against Forest. Even last season scored 11 goal helping United winning the league again. The testimonal which he will be given will be an emotional occasion. Thank you Ole.

I sent that on to you Flano because I can never post them videos. Showed how much he cared for United by doing what he did.

Are you serious?

Its like when Kanchelskis handled the ball on the line to try and save villa scoring in the league cup final in 1994. Its being dishonest but for the good of the team.

Great win at Everton earlier on. Was more like it in the sense it was a good performance which was rewarded with a deserved winner from Vidic. There wasnt many clear cut chances in the game with Scholseys woeful effort when he was in the clear and McFaddens shot that Eddie palmed out and Rio got a block on the rebound. Ronaldo getting booked for diving a shocking decision.

If you lie with dogs then you wake up with fleas

A bit rich to argue a decision to book Ronaldo for diving when he is such a persistent offenderā€¦
