The Official 2012 Club Championship Thread

Cross wrapped this one up early.

Perhaps not, 4 point game, Cross down to 14, hon Kilcoo

A new low for the GGA #104670

Good old fashioned handbags there. Players, water carriers and selectors piling in.

That was some punch thrown by the cross lad in that dust up. Missed him by about three feet.

Cross are cute underhand filth, you have to admire that.

Lad I know plays for garrycastle said cross were spitting at them off the ball. Not just one header but a fairly widespread practice he said. Do they train for that I wonder?

Cross are a sickening bunch of cunts.

A bit like Clare circa 1997-1999?

You just won’t beat Crossmaglen in a dogfight. They know every trick in the book. They’ll time waste, obstruct, gouge, kick, spit - you name it. The rest of Armagh must hate them, I do just watching them anyway.

Jamie Clarke sent off on a second yellow but McConville cynically tripped the player first before Clarke came in and tackled him on the ground.

Are Portlaoise worth a bet at 11/10 to beat Ballymun next weekend? Looks slightly big to me, thought they would have been marginal favourites

Prime example of Cross’ cuteness was the full back lying down half dead after the goal went in, Kilcoo weren’t going to get any chance build on the momentum that goal created. Its a shame they let in the two goals so easily, they could have caused Cross problems had they been a bit cuter themselves, but therein lies the rub I guess.

I’d fancy them, sure, they’ve hardly been tested this year, but they do seem to have a bit more to them than in previous years in the way they’re going about their business. They’re rising it with each game and the contest against Emmets will have done wonders for them. Mullingar may not suit them as a venue as much as say Tullamore, always struck me as a tighter sort of pitch, but I think they might edge out Ballymun. Healy and Mulligan should have enough for Rock and Ted Furman and Boyle and Lillis are playing great stuff this year.

I’d love to see Portlaoise against Crokes, would have the makings of a fine game.

while i have no doubt cross are an underhand shower of filthy cunts but Clarke should have been protected more for his first yellow…he had slid over the sideline when the no 11 from kilcoo cynically dropped his two knees down on top of clarke…thought Hanratty in midfield for cross led with the arm a good few times when he had the ball…gave a nice few hand offs to the face…but the fact of the matter is thats winter football and thats what needs doing to win in those conditions…credit where its due Cross do play some really lovely football at times…they move the ball so fast and nearly everyone of them has an accurate kickpass which is unusual at intercounty level never mind club !!..
Haven´t seen Portlaoise this year but thought they would have been slight favourites given their experience in leinster…Ballymun have built serious momentum and won´t go quietly…be interesting to see how midfield pans out as ´mun wouldn´t have two renowned fielders there at all…macarthy is more a ball carrier than ball winner…think fullback line is ropey too if targeted…Cahir healy is a great man marker and think he´ll be too physical for Rock if they match up…have a sneaking feeling for Portlaoise but its 50/50 game…Ballymun have blown teams out of it in first half in a few games in dublin championship only to lose their way a bit but hang on…be interesting if portlaoise get a run on them and see how they react…expect this to be a bit niggly too…´mun have a few lads who like to dish it out…

Still think whoever wins this won´t be able for Dr. Crokes…think they´ll win the whole thing out this year…

For what its worth Portlaoise’s midfield can be a bit hit and miss and has been a combination of Boyle, Coughlan, Glynn and Kelly over this years games. Midfield has always been their achiillles.

Ballymun looking much the better team and should have enough football to close this out in the second half.

Oulart a goal down at h/t

Big point for Ballymun to put them four up again after Portlaoise had had a 10-12 minute period of dominance with a few bad wides.

Three in it again with three and a half minutes left of normal time.

Ballymun hang on to win 0-11 to 0-8. Faded badly enough in the last 20 but overall definitely deserved the win. Dr. Crokes will be made favourites for the semi-final.

Three Leinster final defeats in a row for Oulart. Feel sorry for them :frowning:

:frowning: unlimited heartbreak.
