The Official Cork GAA 2017 Thread

As I said a few weeks ago the only fella they don’t want any evidence from is God they believe in the big fella completely

How do you know Tyrone were doing a lot of mental training individually? You simply do not know that.

How can you explain how a guy like Sean Cavanagh is still able to play at such a high level into his 15th season as a vital player for a major county and why a guy like Jordan, who according to McGuigan, did everything by the rulebook, couldn’t even play for his club anymore just past the age of 30?

Coaches who blow whitstles and get lads to run round the pitch and create gym programs are minor characters. It’s the players and managers who are the key components. Once the players cross the white line, it’s up to them.

How was it a guy lie Maradona, who regularly had lumps kicked out of him, broke every rule in the book when it came to looking after himself was able to play at such a high level without incurring many serious injuries in his career?

There is no better judge to look after themselves than a player, they can listen to what their body is telling them but some are just too headstrong for it.

Giving S&C coaches the importance and emphasis you do is akin to hanging the credit or blame on a large multinational company on some junior manager in a regional outlet. It’s preposterous and self-congratulatory to the field you claim to operate in.

There are so many holes in the picture you are trying to create that you wouldn’t know where to begin.

As a professional exercise physiologist and S&C Coach i can tell you now players haven’t a fucking notion what they need or whats goid for them. Most need their hand held for them.

It really galls you i know a few tyrone lads. If you left the basement you might meet someone from outside your townland as well.

You don’t know that.

And yet you said above that Kerry and Mayo players said CON played a key role in their success. Now players don’t have a clue.

You are tying yourself in knots.

Every CON trained team has lost marquee players to injury - cruciate (Gooch) hip (donaghy) Donohue (shoulder) - Kerry - Mayo Aidan O’Shea (hamstring and groin) seamus O’Shea (hamstring) Cunniffe (hamstring) Corbett tore a hamstring in AI final for Tipp.

More hamstring injuries with Kildare last year. With one player Flynn in March and again in April.

Who was S&C coach of Kerry in 2013? Was it O Neill? And Kev, was training the reason for his cruciate injury?

You dope.
Gooch did his cruciate playing fir his club against Castlebar and it was a contact injury. Gooches game over a long period and his lack of strength training for years. James O D was contact with a flailing arm and Donaghy got hurt in Basketball.

I was talking about Tipp and kerry btw

Who are you talkibg about

Sorry, gooch.

Yeah I am a dope.

Comparisons of 2008–2011 with 2012–2015 seasons revealed a 2-fold increase in hamstring injury incidences. Between 2008 and 2015 training incidence increased 2.3-fold and match-play incidences increased 1.3-fold.

Conclusions Hamstring injuries are the most frequent injury in elite Gaelic football, with incidences increasing from 2008–2011 to 2012–2015. Tailoring risk management strategies to injury history, age and playing position may reduce the burden of hamstring injuries.

Cruciates just happen.

Not exactly a contact injury. Was pushed and fell

The surgeon who operated on him talks a lot of sense.

I had my own cruciate operated on by Tadhg O’Sullivan back in the day. A top top man.

You do not know what you are talking about.

And i disagree with Tadgh.

Who doesn’t have a great record with rehab.

Cruciates.

No one had cruciates 20 years ago.

What has that got to do with this discussion? Directly?

Alot of lads here with absolutely no idea what they are talking about talking rubbish.

You being the biggest exponent in this regard.

I have done now 4 post clinical rehabs of ACL’s. Also an MCL and 2 Hamstring Avulsions. Some of the testominals are on my page. I have defied numerous physios who gave up on athletes or ruled them out of games etc and got people back safely and quickly and all are atill going.

I am more qualified than anyone in this discussion by a million miles

No, you’re not.

I did my cruciate and medial ligament and went back playing football.

I am more qualified to talk about it than you

The defence rests your honour
