Brendan Cummins, Lar Corbett, Eoin Kelly and John OâBrien all won in 2001.
Ah ya Cummins. Was Lar playing?
Yes - scored 2 or 3 points too.
Longer career than i remember tbh.
Donât remember 2001 that well at all either now that i think about it. As in the year, not just the hurlibg.
General impressions after watching that:
-> Horgan should have gotten a penalty fifteen or so minutes in, was blatantly dragged down. Unfortunately defenders get away with absolute murder in 2017. Griffin and Burke were fouling constantly as well. Unlike Cadogan/Harnedy/Lehane/Kingston, Horgan doesnât have the pace to get away from man-markers. Besides getting and taking frees Iâm not sure what he offers going forward.
-> Jack Browne must hate playing Cork. He should have been taken off Cadogan after five minutes.
-> Cadogan and in particular Kingston got huge space theyâll never get come championship against stronger teams.
-> Coleman is a clever heads up hurler; physically he looks like he needs another year or two. Might be better at midfield going forward.
-> Meade also looks like an intelligent hurler, and he worked very hard. His opposite number played a lot of ball in the first half though.
-> Collins goal came directly from two god awful Horgan passes; stray cross-field passes like that are disasters for teams that donât play sweepers. Ellis and Joyce didnât exactly cover themselves in glory either for the goal.
-> As much as I like Cooper, his work rate and his willingness to look for ball, his tackling and distribution are still poor at this level.
-> Kearney is in fantastic form, but god only knows who we get to partner him. They seem to want Coleman at half-back; Cormac Murphy is the other option but his tackling is as poor as Coopers and he covers less ground.
-> Tony Kelly is a once in a generation hurler that needs to be looked after, not half killed playing county/club/college hurling all on top of each other in February.
-> Thought Harnedy did better than people are saying; made some good runs off the ball, worked relatively hard, distributed the ball fairly well.
-> Horgan had a stinker; would like to see OâFarrell start against Dublin, a little more pace and work-rate.
-> Burke/Spillane seemed to do okay; Shanagher got the better of Griffin the couple of times it went in there. TBF to Griffin he really shouldnât have been out there, management must really not rate Conor Sul.
-> Ellis is our 6 all day every day; not convinced by Joyce as an inter-county half-back, doesnât dominate in the air or on the ground. Think heâll end up corner-back eventually.
-> The biggest issue - Clare 6 goal chances, Cork 0. And nothing to suggest we are doing anything to remedy this problem.
-> Big positive is that management is picking pacey, hard-working, skillful hurlers in the form of Meade/Kingston/Fitzgibbon/Coleman.

Story with Conor Lehane ??
Back from injury. Same with McDonnell and Cahalane.
Fair few lads on that bench capable of adding to the team as season progresses. Whatâs the story with that dean Brosnan? Donât know much about him. Looked like a big boy when he came on the last nt.
Hoggy starting again why donât they give him a break now and give him a kick in the hole at this point in the season. Surely another adequate free taker in that squad.
Kingston is probably the most likely but it might be a bit early for that. I agree in principal but the belief seems to be he cannot change and never will. So when he is dropped it will be forever. As in if a management prioitize workrate theyâll never carry him.
Workrate still not an absolute priority in Cork hurling. There is a kinda bizarre affliction to it, a snobbery almost. Its why average enough sides like the Glen and Sars with a bit of work rate have been successful.
I always thought Brosnan has something but it might be application at that level thats lacking.
Bar Flynn and Haughney you could see any of that bench starting. More an indication of overall averageness than anything.
In other words has no interest in changing. Utterly bizarre really. Iâm not sure you can carry him again for a whole season hoping for 20 minutes of magic. Youâll be beaten before he comes up with it
Was shocked last week at how little effort he made. Iâd love to be wrong mind you
Brosnan looked like he was carrying a few pounds, but thats hard to believe considering he plays for the Glen. Has been on and off the senior panel for a few years now. Very fast when he gets going, touch of the Cathal Naughton about him, tends to wander in and out of games. Doubt heâll make it but we do need someone to partner Kearney.
If he was to fullfill the potential i suspect he has then he would be perfect for Kearney.
Surprised nobody will play Horgan further out the pitch where he would get more space. He gets bottled up too easy inside once summer comes around. Play two inside.
That half forward line looks promising
In theory is makes perfect sense but can you afford a player in half forward line who wonât work to slow the ball going back up the field? Especially if Lehane is out there too. Itâs a quandary!
You could compensate with a worker in beside him but it has to be worth a try. One of his best games was against Waterford a few years ago when he played much deeper.
