Sean Oâ Donoghue seems to be the only player of the calibre needed that could step up. I personally think he is carry too much weight to be a real elite corner back, which is whats needed. And unfortunately thats quite genetic, all the OâDonoghues are that build. He could probably lose 3 KG of muscle though.
There is nobody else. And there is no point in just bring in lads for the sake of it. Settle the squad down now. They only play so many games together. Go reasonabky hard for the league with 85% of your team in place.
There is nobody else is what everyone was saying this time last year and they picked Meade and Fitzgibbon largely out of nowhere. Guaranteed thereâll be a big shaek-up, and theyâll start with the bench. They only used Cahalane/Kearney/OâFarrell and they didnât seem to trust any of them other than Cahalane against Waterford. A 16 or 18 man squad wonât get us anywhere and we were very lucky with injuries this year as well.
Iâm sure Sean OâDonoghue is top of the list. I heard at the start of the year Hartnett rated him second after Fitzgibbon. However everything Iâve heard suggests he is more inclined to football.
Heard the Minor games last year were excellent. U-15 Luke Horgan played for the Glen Minors and was supposed to have been excellent. Hoggieâs nephew?
If Hayes gets football job he may well get SOD. But the encouragement at home and from his club would be hurling.
Fitzgibbon, spillane and Kingston were all expected to play at some point.
Coleman was always good enough but in another set up would have been cast aside because of physicality. However him and Meade have hurling.
Hennessy etc have nowhere near required hurling.
The next batch will come from this years Minors, but their main backs are as of now lacking in critical areas.
T Delaney; N Walsh, C Lucey, D Sheehan; E Cadogan, S Moylan (Capt), M Harrington; M Collins, D Murphy; S Bourke, C McCarthy, M OâConnor; A Cadogan, B Turnbull, S Powter.
11 fucking County players.
5 Senior Hurling, 2 Senior Football.
Is there a faster more skillful full forward line in Club hurling?
Iâve seen all of those lads play hurling with the exception of D. Murphy. And Iâm pretty sure Iâve seen him play but canât remember. Iâd say I went to 50 odd games a year when I was at home.
Looks an awful lot like a team that is way off-balance trying to fit as many âstarâ players in there as possible. And an abundance of inside forwards. I wouldnât trust Bourke at half-forward, surely Cadogan should be 3 and Harrington at 6, Collins is an excellent half-forward at club level, Turnbull is a corner-forward not a full-forward, Powterâs running would be better suited out the pitch etc.
