No Perth test.

As I suspected, Jimmy Anderson wonā€™t feature in Brisbane.

Ollie Pope preferred to Bairstow. Two from Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad and Jack Leach looks to be the only real decision to be made from the 12 man match squad selected.

This will be one of sportā€™s greatest victories if England win the series

Itā€™s always great when we beat the Convicts, particularly over there. England have been so poor particularly with the bat for so long now, itā€™s hard to be too confident.

Australia at no great shakes though. Not a patch on the great sides they had of the 90ā€™s and 00ā€™s.

Must be very hard touring in Covid times

The other huge tour event of 2021 was greatly diminished due to Covid restrictions in SA . It wasnā€™t a proper Lions tour

Iā€™ll be waking up tomorrow hoping the convicts are on top. Aussie batsmen outside of Marnus and Smith canā€™t be trusted and Starc is washed up. Two mediocre sides

mitchell johnson scaring the shit out the english was one of the great sporting occasions i attended.

It greatly diminished as an Ashes Series in Australia that there is no Perth test. Itā€™s hard to know what to expect. England have been poor in 2021, but at least they have had plenty of test match action in 2021.

Australia effectively havenā€™t played in 2021. Well not since the 19th of January, when India chased down 329 to win the test at the Gabba and the series.

Is that because no one is allowed into Western Australia?

I was at a day of the famous ashes in 2005. I had 9(nine) or ten pints. Was like a day at the beach. Bit of a laid back pleasant atmosphere. Bizarre thing is you canā€™t see the ball.

Effectively yes. Thereā€™s a 14 day quarantine period on arrival in Western Australia. Announced yesterday that the Perth test was shelved.

Iā€™ve been to the Boxing Day test in Melbourne twice a New Year test in Sydney and the WACA in Perth. Thereā€™s the world of difference between an Ashes series in England and Australia. It was around 40 degrees for the Sydney test and just oppressive.

Perth is hot too but the Freemantle Doctor in the afternoon takes the real sting out of the heat.

Iā€™ve been to a Victoria Vs NSW match at the MCG. You can barely see the batsmen there.

The MCG is too big for cricket really. I much preferred Sydney Cricket Ground.

England have won the toss and elected to bat.

Looks like Stuart Broad has been left out.

Are any of the racists playing for England?

Is Geoff Boycott (women beater) in the staff?

Youā€™re obviously not a Telegraph reader. Sir Geoffrey providing some very insightful analysis to the Telegraph readership in his column earlier in the week.

On cricket or how to beat a woman?
