Only way England can really look at it now is the key partnership of Root and Stokes will still be there at start of play tomorrow. The openers are hopeless and havenât scored any runs all series and Leach is the Number 11/nightwatchman so there wasnât any expectation of runs from those sources. Losing Malan was the really big blow there.
A lead of 200 would represent a tricky enough run chase on a wicket that hasnât been easy to bat on from the very start. England hopes rest on Root, Stokes and then Bairstow and Buttler cobbling together 250 runs between them.
Theyâll do very well to get 200.

Of course Stokes was time wasting. England needed to face as few deliveries as they could and just get off that pitch for stumps. There was an over lost there it took Stokes so long to get out on the field.
