Two early England wickets, the night watchman Lyon and Labuschagne.

84/3

Much needed wicket for England as a 5th wicket stand of 61 is broken as Robinson picks up the wicket of Head.

171/5

England lead down to 14.

Jimmy Anderson back in the attack and first delivery picks up the wicket of Harris who had got to 76. Anderson has been outstanding all day.

Australia 180/6

Finally a wicket for Jack Leach. Traps Cameron Green lbw.

207/7

Stokes picks up the wicket of Carey.

219/8

Australia all out for 267

First innings lead of 82. Good effort from England bowlers but a few damaging tail end runs.

Now for the tricky bit.

Crawley gone in the 5th over.

England 7/1

Malan out lbw first ball.

7/2

Shambolic batting.

Hameed gone. Fourth consecutive single figure score across the Adelaide and Melbourne tests.

22/3

Nightwatchman Jack Leach ill advisedly leaves his second delivery and it clips the top of off stump.

22/4

Bloodbath.

Predictable carnage.

England 31/4 at stumps. Deficit down to 51.

Only way England can really look at it now is the key partnership of Root and Stokes will still be there at start of play tomorrow. The openers are hopeless and haven’t scored any runs all series and Leach is the Number 11/nightwatchman so there wasn’t any expectation of runs from those sources. Losing Malan was the really big blow there.

A lead of 200 would represent a tricky enough run chase on a wicket that hasn’t been easy to bat on from the very start. England hopes rest on Root, Stokes and then Bairstow and Buttler cobbling together 250 runs between them.

They’ll do very well to get 200.

Was there a bit of gamesmanship from the poms there in the second to last over? Time-wasting?

Australia are the Poms.

Prisoners of Our Majesty Service.

They’re always up to dirty tricks and gamesmanship.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Amateur hour not having a man ready to go in. Could’ve cost us an over in ideal conditions. Tomorrow will be fun.

Of course Stokes was time wasting. England needed to face as few deliveries as they could and just get off that pitch for stumps. There was an over lost there it took Stokes so long to get out on the field.

Stokesy gone.

Root proving stubborn but they need runs.

Stokes just hasn’t been right all series.
