He will surely be dropped after this game. Shoddy out with the gloves and not contributing with the bat either, and that’s what he is in the team for.

Poms cruising home here. 2-1. Game on Ger

222/6

We need 29 more runs

232-7
Squeaky bum time.

A handy 6 from Mark Wood there to move us to 240/7 after the dismissal of Brook.

11 needed still. England could easily mess this up yet.

A beautiful cover drive from Woody for a boundary.

244/7. 7 runs needed.

And a wide for 245/7

2 more from Wood. 247/7

4 needed.

Wood skies one but Carey drops it.

248/7. 3 needed.

England have timed this beautifully. If there had been a bit more rain the hurling would have had to be delayed for the finish of the cricket.

That move from 3:30 to 4pm seems genius now. Probably the best thing the GAA have done all year.

The WOAKES mob have done it.

This might be the first time since the fourth test at Trent Bridge in 2005 where the cricket has well and truly wiped the GAA’s eye.

Australia will be kicking themselves. England were on the ropes at 142/7 at lunch on Day 2 trailing by 121 and the Ashes all but gone.

Test cricket in the North of England in Leeds and Manchester at Headingley and Old Trafford is just great. Quite the contrast to the funeral like atmosphere at the newer Old Trafford of the soccer variety.

Will England management have the guts to make the changes now

I think most of the changes needed were made for this test in fairness. Wood, Woakes and Moeen recalled and all three did really well. Foakes in for Bairstow to keep wicket obviously just has to happen now. Woakes was brought in for Anderson as Anderson was never going to play back to back tests after playing at Lord’s. Woakes was my man of the match at Headingley and has to play at Old Trafford.

The one other chance I would make is to drop Robinson for Old Trafford. Anderson can’t play back to back tests and Tongue was good at Lord’s and unlucky to not play at Headingley. It’s how you manage it there between the two back to back teats at Old Trafford and The Oval.

Unchanged squad for Old Trafford. No Ben Foakes. Butterfingers to continue as wicketkeeper.

Poms win the toss yet again. Khawaja gone. 1/28

BOL today guys

600th test wicket for Broady.

Travis Head on his way. Australia 189/5

This has been a compelling day of cricket.

Wood v Marsh now could be electrifying.

5/232.
