The Official Irish Times Best Places to Holiday in Ireland Thread
Definitely not The Menlo so lad.

The Tweleve in Barna as @Mac suggested or the The Salthill Hotel also.
The Salthill Hotel is booked out on one of the night. The House Hotel is also booked out.

Oranmore?

The Park House?

Not a clue, thought there was somewhere nice there

On Forster street? Nice enough.

Imperial on Eyre Square is quite nice despite it’s previous reputation.

Do you need to tie yourself to Galway?

Wineport Lodge in Athlone is lovely for a night or two away with herself. Great food and a grand relaxing spot.

Park house is grand. Bit overpriced in my view but you cant knock it for location.

Imperial has been renovated, no idea what its like now.

SURPRISE! I’m bringing you to… Athlone!

Wineport isn’t Athlone. Unless she’s a pure roaster she’ll love it.

How far from Tipp are you willing to travel? Kid as well?

No kid, and want to have a good night out too.

Yeah, know what you mean but Wineport is impressive… it works.

Not a place for going on the rip though.

If you want a night on the beer in Galway with herself then Park House, Foster Court, Imperial, Raddisson will all suit.

Price The Connaught also but its a 10 euro taxi trip to city centre.

You’d know that things are on the turn given the price of the hotels at the moment compared to 18 months ago.
Have you considered Liffey Valley?

New Ross it is so

There’s a fine filling station on the way out of New Ross. Worth the trip alone.

The key bit

Would Killarney work or is that too expensive?

I was at a wedding in Wineport Lodge before and it’s a splendid place. It’s not actually in Athlone, @TreatyStones. It’s very close to Glasson Village where’s there’s a couple of very homely local type pubs and a nice restaurant called The Fatted Calf.

I’ve always found Killarney average enough for a night out. The Meyrick is actually reasonable that weekend, is that decent place or is it very old and jaded inside there?

Never stayed in the Meyrick but it should be a pretty decent standard and food is excellent there. Its location is also perfect. Not sure on parking situation… worth checking of its extra.
