The official Roman Catholic thread

Itā€™s a fact that hundreds of so called gods were born to a virgin mother on Dec 25th prior to this Jesusā€¦ Thatā€™s fact.

Jesus was not a God, you imbecile. He was the son of God. There is only one true God.

So you donā€™t believe in Jesus? I thought God, jebus and the holy ghost were all the same?

I believe in Jesus but thereā€™s only one God.

How is the ā€œPrincessā€ anyway?

Superb

Lovely mass this morning in st Joeā€™s Terenure along with the wife and the two younger kids. Hoping to get one mass in a month for 2016 and this was Januaryā€™s effort.
Nice service, concise yet effective.
Lovely bit of praying done.
We prayed for the sick.
We prayed for those parishioners who have died of late.
We prayed for the sick in the parish.
We prayed for the sick EVERYWHERE.
We also prayed for those who are drowning in the Mediterranean.
One of the readings was done by a bloke with a jumper that was of similar colour to the wall at the back of the alter.
I donā€™t recall the content of the sermon and I didnā€™t partake in the Holy Eucharist on this occasion for personal reasons but the wife and elder child did.
The attendance was strong with families of young children out in force.
The style on show was as you would expect in the parish with Sunday Best observed pretty much to perfection.
As usual for me I felt a million dollars at the end. Iā€™m really enjoying my mass these days. Iā€™m more mature now though and on top of that what is seldom is wonderful.
Roll on Februaryā€™s service.
Up the Catholics and up the church.

Iā€™m absolutely delighted to hear that

The Priest this morning down home decided to forego the sermon saying the morning was that miserable and there was that many people coughing and sneezing that heā€™d let everyone off back to the fire before going to O Moore Park later. A man who understands the people. A lovely gesture.

You wouldnā€™t hear an iman in the middle east asking his congregation to pray for the sick and dying in Ireland. Weā€™re a super religion.

Bingo.

We are a great bunch of lads. There is no hatred in us despite the Muslims and those counts the atheists frothing at the mouth simply because we are at peace with ourselves

Had mass last night, anniversary for what would have been my brother in law. Nothing eventful to report other than the sermon which was taken over by some auld one looking for everyone to commit to an hours adoration every week. Nothing too unusal about that until she gave us her reasoning. Apparently an hours adoration every week will solve the following

  • Depression
  • Aches
  • Pains
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Financial Problems
  • Domestic Problems
  • Work Problems

and a few more ridiculous things. Essentially, if you give the Lord an hour a week heā€™ll reward you by fixing every problem going on in your life. I wish I was exaggerating but this was what she threw out word for word. Crazy shit.

If Bressie catches on to that idea he will be made.

Bressie loves his adoration

I donā€™t know, if Iā€™m wrong then what happens?

Sounds a lot like the Talk to Joe thread this weekend.

Apart from that @Mac, was it a positive experience?

I must go to mass very soon. Sounds like buzz is back

It was mate. I stayed down the back with the buggy and young fella. There was no other children present as it was a 7.30pm mass and thereā€™s an earlier one at 6pm. He was in a chatty mood so his loudness might have distracted some others but everyone saw it was all in good spirits.
