The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore takes no prisoners.

Awful news about the adoption scandal.
Fuck it but the church did its best to destroy this country.
It would fill you with rage.

Great timing after the few months we’ve had, I’ve fuck all against the modern day church but cunts like McQuaid were evil

That wasn’t adoption, that was child trafficking. I’m sure that the nuns made pots of money from trafficking babies to America and beyond…

Happy Corpus Christi folks.

The State helped as well. When he was Minister for Children Brian Lenihan appointed his election agent to the Adoption Board. This individual then attended 6 of 45 meetings of the board in 2005. That’s how seriously the State took adoption.

I think Fintan reflects the state of the church today quite neatly here

Fintan O’Toole: Catholic Ireland is now a religious rust belt of half-empty churches (via @IrishTimes)

The rust belt just elected Trump, careful what you wish for Tin Tin.

A rust belt of former miners and auto workers who want to continue in those roles is different from large sctions of non/former church catholics in ireland.

The Bishops were ignored and impotent during the referendum debate.

My father used to be a primacy school teacher. Part of the job involved preparing the weans/bairns/youngsters for the religious inspection- a big day when some future Bishops and cardinals would visit, have their egos boosted, give religious instruction and ask some relevant questions about God, the holy spirit and other supernatural phenomena.
My papa/pater etc often tells an anecdote about one twisted pupil who was singled out by the Fr and asked to state where jesus, after all his bother, now resided. The child refused to answer and ‘clammed up’ in a determined manner. The priest was equally determined and set about quizzing, cajoling and hectoring the boy in an exhaustive but futile manner. Finally the priest told the child that he had received the best of instruction, the best of encouragement and the holy sacrament, therefore he should be more than capable of stating where jesus was.
The student finally spoke. He said, “Father. If I knew where there was a field full of Jesuses I wouldn’t tell you”.

Did your father teach in West Belfast by any chance. The anecdote has some resonance with someone involved in politics who’s name escapes me.

It sounds too poetic for Belfast.

Yes. Anyone with access to a student number can get a free sub

No, he tried to educate tyrone people. It was an uphill struggle.

It’s Sidney’s birthday?

Fair play to the Padre for taking a stance against an unruly and undisciplined child, who do the parents think they are letting the child run amok inside the chapel.

That’s quite disturbing, I’m sorry I watched it
