Answer the question, mate.

as these lads get older they question themselves, they question the way they react to things, why they behave in certain ways, they it hits them, and then they ruefully admit to themselves, that yes, they are still in the team, still part of it, still Catholics

Is Catholicism sort of like a Junior D Gaelic football team in a depopulated rural area, ie, there are so few people left that everybody still there makes the team by default?

Those rural lads shut down the pale by parking a few tractors in Ć³ Connell St. They run the country and youā€™ll do well to Fucking remember it.

The Summerhill lads would have them stolen within two minutes.

Checkmate.

I think anyone who absolutely claims to know the existence or absence of divinity is a complete spoofer.

Iā€™ll try to live a good life based on what I think is right. Not for a reward in an afterlife that may or may not exist but itā€™s how I was reared and how Iā€™d like to rear my family.

I thought all the Limerick lads here claimed to have experienced divinity at about 5pm last Sunday?

If a divine being exists I hope he/she/it was nowhere near hill 16 between 16:50 and 17:00 the amount of blasphemy I commited

I suppose with all the injury time, the pearly gates mustnā€™t have opened until approximately 5:09pm.

Think of it as penance.

This papal visit is irrelevant to the majority of people in Ireland. Heā€™s spent the day preaching to the committed Catholic community, 95% of whom are older females, but the rest of the country is indifferent or hostile. Meanwhile the global media coverage of the visit is centred on abuse and on making unfavourable contrasts with the JPII visit. What struck me today was the visible absence of clerical women. Other than Sr. Stan, I donā€™t think I saw one now nun in the whole days activities today. Also striking was the age profile of those outside the Cappucian (Sp?) day centre: none under 60 afaicsā€¦

Penance delivered by Father Owens.

If you can give me proof that homosexuality actually exists then Iā€™ll provide the proof that God exists.

That is without a doubt the sickest chat up line anyone has ever used on me.

Go on, you have me intrigued

Bad news for you, mate - she doesnā€™t put out.

Media coverage will always lead with negative stories and will always be sensationalist. It makes people feel better about themselves and their own set of circumstances. The media will pontificate their own liberal agenda. Its a bit ironic that ā€œliberalsā€ arent tolerant of other people having a belief system contrary to their own and always seek to undermine and jeer like a class bully. Life can be a grim place and unfortunately every person will be met with deep personal tragedy. A belief in a higher power (fact or fiction) can sustain and energise people or sometimes just be enough to get through. Why one human being would deny another that belief is beyond my comprehension.

Great night for the faith keeping people of this country.

Been scorned, ridiculed etc but a night when faith finally struck back.

Pope Francis is a wonderful human being.
