The official Roman Catholic thread

RTE1 now.

Great to see Brian Dobson being brought back for it.

Crowds donā€™t look great at the moment, hopefully it picks up

Itā€™s looks a fair bit off 500k in attendance if the aerial views are anything to go by.

FAKE NEWS

Vast empty fields there.

Of course the Dublin crowd are probably in the pubs til the last minute so thereā€™ll probably be a surge any minute now.

Very peaceful watching it.

Even the grandstands are only half full

Just put the feet up lads and soak this in. Youll get something positive from it and thereā€™s very little else going on today that will guarantee you that.

almost healing

Iā€™d say it isnā€™t breaking 200k , very disappointing

Iā€™d say 150k tops.

You canā€™t beat the majesty of a Roman Catholic hymn.

Poor divils out on their feet at the back and thousands of empty seats up the front.

Amazing turnout in challenging weather conditions.

Did the fair weather Catholics not show up?

That fella has a lovely voice

You canā€™t beat the majesty of a plastic poncho.

Out in the parents watching it. Mother said for JP2 they headed off at 4am for the mass in the Park at 11am. About a 8km journey. Buses brought you to the gate of the park. Reckons they got home about 5.

Think we should have gone in here lads.

This is standard across the globe. Sports events face challenging attendances. Non sports events like the GGA the same. When you have HD, multiple camera angle and incredible audio you arenā€™t gonna go out in inclement weather.

Thatā€™s just the way itā€™s gone these days, except for rugby football, Irelandā€™s new religion.
