we had a great day out in Knock in 87 for an altar boys day out, a load of us went up in a minibus. There was lads from 3 parishes, the local principle and parish priest organised it
Fr Frank, lord of mercy on him, took a few of us to a Leinster final, McDonalds and a puck around in Phoenix Park afterwards. He was a character and great man in the community. He is sorely missed.

I remember a trip to Knock once, we took two mini buses. Just as we were about to set off, the local priest comes running up to our mini bus hollering for us to hold up. He gets to the bus, looks in the door, and asks in there room for one more. Of course there is Father says me auld fella, is everything ok? Oh it is, it is says he, I just got snookered in the second bus there with the women and I’m fucked if I’m going to be saying Rosarys for them all the way from Laois to Mayo. He then proceeds to pull out the deck of cards and away we go.
Good times.

the Muslims go ape for ateing sweets, most of them are an awful size

Pilgrimage season ended last Sunday week so it was stunningly peaceful on Our Lady’s Island this morning.
