The Official TFK Coffee Thread

Thanks mate. Thats the sort of insight i was looking for. And i was prepared to take the poorly constructed and cheap jibes from the likes of @glasagusban to get it.

Ta. Thatā€™ll do me.

In true TFK fashion, dig in and show her the folly of her choice by buying and using one of these:

Still nicer coffee than those mass-marketed machines she signed you in to, simple stove-top coffee maker still the better option and sourced for about 20-30 quid.

The smugness will go well with coffee beans of your choice. Victory can be yours still.

Best coffee youā€™ll have is from one of these

Might be for the things I learned today thread.

But no matter what size takeaway coffee you choose, and most likely sit down sizes also, you get the same size shot of coffee. The extra is just filler, be it milk, water, latte, cappuccino or what not.

Starbucks and costa serve one, two or four shots of espresso in their small, medium or large americanos

My 3 year old bean to cup de longhi machine stopped working yday. Error message coming up that the water circuit is empty.

Iv followed the troubleshooting guide which suggests it was an airlock. That hasnā€™t worked. Next stop is descaling it but it wonā€™t even allow me access the descaling function

The obvious solution here is just buy a new machine but any other suggestions

Have you tried switching it off and on again?

Did it come with a blind portafilter/basket? A solid one without the little holes that let the coffee through

If Iā€™d a pound for every time someone said i was sweet, smooth and nutty

I might be late on this but why canā€™t you descale it? Itā€™s the obvious solution.

If you live in a high lime water area it might be best with units like those to feed them with clean pre-boiled water only. Easier said than done.

The only other advice is with units like that donā€™t bang then about. If they get a bang a bit of scale might drop off and clog a pipe or nozzle. Then it can be an almost impossible task, because the more you go at it, the worse it gets.

Best of luck getting it goingā€¦

I did eventually manage to descale it. I am in a high lime area alright and had left it too long to descale

How did you descale it? HOW???

I told a fib. I fucked off to Germany for a week with work and my wife figured out how to do it

Thereā€™s no shame in that.

I think I suggested it.
No point buying nice coffee and not using proper water.
