Farmers are a very adaptable bunch mate. We’ve been custodians of the environment for years with the REPS and GLAS schemes. There’s already a fabulous array of diversity on most Irish farms. You’d see all sorts of flora and fauna.

Teagasc and local authorities do have a lot of questions to answer into how a large amount of dairy & tillage farmers have been allowed to destroy a lot of Hedgerows throughout the country alright.
I see a parcel of Land for example that Coolmore acquired locally here a few years ago.
Grassland of say 150 acres, average but okay ground. Probably 8 decent sized ditched fields.
They roll in with excavators, drain it and in a week or so level every ditch, heap it & burn it.
A week or so later it’s cultivated & arable crops sown.
By all means go and drain it, cultivate it & sow it. But for the 4 acres maybe gained why are they allowed level every hedgerow, ditch & tree?

Grazing managed properly does work & always has.
We’ve lads here killing the grass with herbicides, ploughing a few days later and immediately planting spuds. I hate that mentality. The same sort of fuckers who have cattle packed into open pens and standing on slots year round. Pure misery for the poor things. All of this can be legislated for, but it would take half a brain and ryan comes up short.
Try asking Google how much of our atmosphere is comprised of greenhouse gases, or how much of that is manmade. You’ll be fed lies, propaganda and misleading statistics. The fact is it’s fuck all…cattle are a tiny percentage of fuck all.
