Saw a farmer dropping bales to cattle last night
Plenty of rain forecast for the weekend thank god.
Can I just comment that it’s a pleasure to see your command of posting links has improved immeasurably
Keep it up champ
Read in the paper this morning that dairy bull calves are effectively worth nothing. Mad.
That’s not true. The vast majority are bought for money each year. They are perfectly profitable and a lot of them are raised each year across the country.
Some unscrupulous, ultra capitalistic type dairy farmers see no value in bull calves and don’t do right by them. Calves need proper care and those that don’t get it have no market as they will cost you an arm and a leg in order to keep them alive. They will probably never be right anyway.
It’s a big topic in farming circles, and totally wrong from the dairy farmers that do it.
The saving grace is sexed semen which is more and more commonplace and works really well. Dairy farmers are able to breed their own replacement heifers and breed the rest of the cows to beef bulls whose calves are more valuable to sell.
The bad cunt in Limerick dumped 64 dead calves in a Wooded area thinking he was done with them.
The horrible cunt
An incredible price for land - he’ll be a while paying it but good luck to them.
Bonkers stuff.
While it’s okay land it’s not exactly great either.
Some amount of chaps in the general area who are currently renting ground are absolutely seething as lads who are hoping to purchase plots are finding the owners now expecting similar values.
It’s like everything else Har - they’re not making it any more hence the price.
That said, it’s a mental price for it.
Would a chap who’s had a fine year with White Gold prices be able to offset a hefty tax bill with land purchase?
Would explain the bidding war….
Unlikely but you can always try. Moving from carats to carrots isn’t a good plan.
You know what they say about dairy farmers. As soon as they see light at the end of the tunnel, they buy more tunnel…
Nope, what they say its that they are planet killers
No. The purchase of an asset does not reduce your tax bill. There are capital allowances but not for land.
