The Official TFK Farming Thread

Yes.

He’s coming across as a bit of a cunt to be fair.Goodman and co are fucking gangsters.

And the competition authority whistling past the graveyard.

The only peep out of them cunts in the whole affair has been to give the farmers a warning

By way of comparison how does the price offered by the producers compare to udder countries ?

They’re milking the system here

Most of our exported beef goes to the UK, they pay the highest price in Europe and most of the world for beef and they are a net importer of beef. We get paid about a euro a kg less than UK producers but you’d expect that as they’re more likely to buy British. The producer price of beef in EU would be lower than here, and we’re probably competing on price. In France, a leg of French lamb might be 34 euro, an Irish or NZ leg of lamb would be twice the size and half the price on the shelf.

So it’s not a realistic comparison to compare the price of beef here to the UK? Why are the farmers always using it as a comparison so?

It is as that’s where the majority of the export goes. Irish beef is well regarded over there and obviously sells. I’m not aware of the retail breakdown of how well it does over there, processors don’t release that info. Goodman controls 40% of the factories over there too. It goes back to price transparency.

They didn’t bother their holes getting involved when Goodman bought a 50% share in slaney meats.

Cormac has access to a lot of cheap steak.

Very simplistic but that’s probably reasonable if they/we lived in a vacuum. Unfortunately, many of the processors are multinational and just use it as an excuse to import/lobby for the import of Brazilian beef

No world for small farmers.

Thoughts on this deal lads?

They all seem equally pissed off with it which is normally a good sign
