The Official TFK Farming Thread

The competition authority of Ireland `referred’ the decision to the EU on the transaction below. Farmers were up in arms over it but the deal went through anyway. That sale was another large step in Larrys monopoly.

There’s surely something funny about the IFA whining about undue political influence be it meat processors or the vegan crowd. One of the most cosseted special-interest lobby groups in the history of the state.

I utterly opposed the water protests but even I can see the shameful difference how farm protestors are treated compared to them.

And yet the regulatory environment seems to be set up to fleece them. I can’t get my head around it.

You can’t get your head around how a very wealthy and well connected business man has managed to skew the system in his favour?

Against the farmers lobby? Possibly strongest industry voice in Ireland since EU accession.

Why?

When’s the last time the farmers achieved anything? The IFA are gone to fuck altogether

We need Parlon back

Because I disagreed with them and thought the arguments essentially boiled down to “I don’t want to pay or I want someone else to pay”. I also thought some of the tactics were very poor and stretched (and maybe overstepped) the definition of peaceful protest

I would imagine a lot of them were pissed off being asked to pay considering that they were already being hammered with the new USC at the time, which is still there of course.

I think middle earners are ridiculously walloped with tax in this country, and are penalised as it is usually deducted at source and is easy money for the government to get at.

Hon that wee man.

Amateur hour at the McNulty farmstead tonight. Cunt of a cow started to calf around 6 but had fuck all done by 10. I put her in the crush, carried out preliminary investigations and discovered calf was presenting correctly so I preceded to jack her out. Halfway out one of the ropes got entangled in the jack, rendering it useless. Thankfully most of the work was done and I was able to pull her out myself. Tense few moments guys.

I lost the other rope in this mess but I’m sure the auld lad will root through it tomorrow and recover.

End result is the most important thing.
