Would your Da not have one lying about one of the sheds? Might even have belonged to his Da or Granda before him, with the blade only being replaced once and the shaft twice.

I gave half a day to the FIL once and I after that I made sure I never set foot in North Galway during turf season.

I’m a city boy but love all the different farming shows esp on BBC ,rare breed etc etc,some characters,hives the rest of us some inkling into rural matters,my mama gang in Kerry were farmer’s but had to deviate into construction and a pub to turn a bob
