The Official TFK Father's Issues Thread. I don't know how they do it

We are skirting the issue here.

People have become useless cunts with no interest in taking reslonsibility or doing their job. Fucking cunts.

Too busy staring at their phones.

Sweden is rolling out 6 hour working days across some public sectors. There is a ban on social media and personal email during those 3 x 2 hours slots.

True but it was good for them to get to know their grandfather before he died

You’re a lucky man kev, I reckon you love your job, I’m happy enough with mine as well but a lot of people in poorly paid jobs have no pride in their work. I’m still not 100% sure you’re being fair in this case though. Obviously if the mother could not come they would have kept the kid but this must have been fairly unusually bad crying if they are putting a portion of their reputation on the line. It’s the kind of thing people speak about.

I agree with what you’ve said here, plus I think that the teacher had to consider the effects on all the other children.

Winner.

Generally if a child is crying for that long there is something wrong. Whether it’s due to the new surroundings, separation anxiety, being overly mothered or whatever the fuck theory you have, it’s the parents responsibility to deal with it.

Personally if my child was upset for that long I’d prefer to know about it rather than stick my head in the sand and let someone else deal with it.

My eldest started preschool around the same stage and was completely fine, depends on the child

You’re obviously an outstanding parent bro, I’ve always suspected as much.

you get two free pre school years now, must be three to get into it.

I’m far from it, mate. It’s easy to talk a good game on here but putting it into action when they driving you mental is a completely different story

Thats exactly what a good father would say. They’re lucky to have you pal.

My three year old goes to a “creche” I guess. It is a childcare centre attached to a national school. They do the free pre school years too, and after school care for older kids when they finish at 2pm. She is there about a year now. Goes two days a week until now she had graduated into the free pre school phase.

Unbelievably impressive place, and nothing like how you described really. They have a huge outdoor play area, with a greenhouse amongst other bits and pieces. So they are growing their own veg etc. Most impressive of all (il include @caoimhaoin here) is they do a load of excercise with the kids, all ages. My lady has been coming home since the start (at 2 years of age) doing her “gymnastics”. basic enough shit, head over heels, stretching their legs, doing “press ups” etc etc. Without fail she has to practise her gymnastics and her running excercises every night because her “teacher” told them to.

I would have thought they are following a set curriculum or something and this was common place but appears not? I know her “teacher” at the moment in the first phase of the pre school has a degree in early childhood studies or something, and is doing a masters in it (this was all outlined, along with other staff qualifications in the bumph that came with the application form). I assume it is run as a business but not 100% sure TBH, might not be a for profit set up I must check it out.

I must say it cheers me up no end when I come into this thread and see that all kids are mental bastards.

Mine are particularly whingey at the moment, even the tone of their voice. It drives me bananas

I was being a bit flippant and ive never had a bad experience myself. I’ve heard stories though that would upset you if it was your own kids.
A creche is really only a child minding service, obviously some will do a superior job, great that you’ve found a really good one, it must make it a lot easier to drop them off with that knowledge.

The ones that are part of a chain are usually problematic. Private or community based ones are best.

My missus just informed me it is a not for profit community creche. The lady who runs the place is a tough cookie. She runs it like clockwork. And yes, it is a big help that she likes it. Runs in the door every morning. Its in a rural enough spot, but the national school attached to it was always very progressive and this place appears to run on same ethos. They start teaching foreign languages in 5th & 6th class, and have done since I was a kid.

Nobody seems to know how long he was crying. Mother seems to think hos reaction to her arriving was indication it was easily solvable. Who knows?

And i think its a bit presumptious to say the oarent did not want to know. She actually feels the teacher has taken a disliking to him. Paranoid or not i am not sure. But it was only another 45 mins to the end. She would definitely want to know, but could it not wait. 3 days ago he was going around hugging everyone, now he doesn’t want to go back. Seens strange.

But of course its the kids fault

@backinatracksuit - i totally expect a “caregiver” to care. And i do expect people getting decent money to do their job, if they like it or not.

These places need a no nonsense operater at the top who’ll take no shit from.the kids or the parents. The woman at our place would barely look at you when you drop em off, but the kids adore her.
