is there any reported child deaths at home births in last 20 years?
10 minutes too late unfortunately in some cases. Look, statistically itâs unlikely but if things go wrong, you are dealing with seconds not minutes.
There are pros and cons for both options for both baby and mother and while statistically the mortality rate is higher there is less risk of infection and less risk of being railroaded into a c-section if you have a home birth.
Youâre not on your own, pal. Iâve got your back.
My first wife pushed my eldest lad out in a hospital and it was a fucking horror show of epic proportions to witness. My current missus had 3 c sections. She wouldnât push she said, posh as fuck. I wouldnât fucking blame her. The first the consultant booked her in on a Monday morning over in the coombe and a few hours sitting round alright then off to theatre that takes 30-40 minutes Max where they cut a slit and he goes rooting around and pulls them out. Myself and herself were chatting away during it. Itâs actually quite agricultural, all the rooting and tearing. They stitched her up while I held the baba and there wasnât an ounce of commotion or a voice raised in anger. Of course I always thought I was a lucky man to have 3 kids with the same woman who hasnât a saggy vag but my friend and lady anatomy expert @caoimhaoin dispelled that notion recently.
Anyway, youâd want your fucking head examined to be pushing out a baby in your own home.
One of my cows had a C section a few years ago. Iâd say I could do it myself no bother after seeing it once. Hardest job would be getting the wife into the crush gate.
In my opinion, having a home birth is like driving without a seatbelt, yourself and the kids. Youâll probably be ok, and itâs more comfortable, but if there is an accident, you have yourselves to blame.
ok guys, dont be so harsh on poor Fran
I agree, Franâs one of the very few good guys around here.
yep
he is a harmless old sort
The biggest issue youâd have with a woman is getting the stitching right without leaving a scar.
While the cow wouldnât give two shits about that.
Iâll give you an hour if itâs any use
Cheers mate, theyâre coming at me from all angles here
TB test tomorrow, I could use a good corner back.
Alexander the great?
Fuck no, mick the mighty.
Oofftt
I was born at home. Never did me any harm.
That was common enough in the 30âs pal.
The 60âs (cough). 5 kids in family, the first 4 born at home. When one of my sisters was born the midwife turned up drunk.
