Our fellas 2nd birthday party today - had to have it 2 weeks before his actual birthday due to circumstances outside of our control. A cracking day all round. You get so used to going to other peoples parties that you forget what its like to celebrate 1 of your own kids ones. Not sure he had a clue what was going on but he ran around like a lunatic all day long smiling and laughing. Nothing else really mattered,

You have a makeyuppy ‘qualification’. If you were smart enough or academic enough you’d have probably studied physiotherapy to begin with and you’d be bad mouthing s&c.
Chartered physiotherapists don’t give a fiddlers about you snakeoil salesmen. In fact I have proof of this. As it was confirmed to me by a ‘physiotherapist friend of mine’ I was talking to earlier.

This sounds like hysterical bullshit to me, certainly an attempt to run down people in a profession, most likely mixed in with a bit of jealousy and bitterness.

.

I have a few case studies to write up, 2 in particular, with athletes written off by lazy physios who i have got back to play and competing at the level they were at.
I’ll send you the link to them when i have them written and you can show to your physio friend how shit some of his peers are. One of them was writing exercises on a piece of paper and giving nothing else. The other physio was getting a 6 week post op Hamstring avulsion (same injury as Paul O’Connell) International Martial Artist to go jogging for 30/40/50 minutes. Even when they reported pain and unable to do it he still pushed it. When i told the athlete there was no need for running for rehab or sport he (physio) lost the plot and started shouting at the client.
This is the carry on of some of these “professionals”. Its written in a book. Look it up, give it out. This is the way we do it. Nothing else works.
Mindless carry on.
I have stories every week as i have people coming every week sick of shelling out huge sums of money and fetting nowhere. Delaying tests and exams to get them back in again. Trying to sign them up to 12 session rehab courses etc etc. A German physio friend working here who came home crying to her boyfriend because of abuse from her physio boss for telling someone they didn’t really need physio anymore. She was trained in Germany that getting rid of people and never seeing them again was SUCCESS. She said what her boss wanted was her to lie and steal from clients.
Its only some of course, and i deal with some fantastic physios. Really progressive forward thinking physios. People who understand their role and people who know they don’t have all the answer and people who don’t pretend to be S&C/Massage therapists/acupuncturists/personal trainers and everything else. They upskill and refer. Thats all anybody expects. I have to do the same, and for all the people that come to me with sore necks, low back, knees etc i end up sending 1 or 2 out of 10 to a physio for diagnosis and then take instruction from them. Another 1 or 2 i may send occassiinally to an acupuncturist. Thats a multi-disciplinary approach. Thats what alot of physios fear. Typical irish fear. Tgere is enough for everyone to do a better job yet physios, while not the only ones, are the ones who resist so much and they end up compromising themselves professionally.

You and your mate are more than welcome to publically challenge anything i have posted/blogged or written. I have plenty furious clients willing to talk.

I made shit of one of my knees a few years go. I had surgery to have it repaired, I went to a sports physio to have it rehabbed.

He was excellent, my knee is pretty good for it’s age now and relatively pain-free.

Guy knew what he was doing alright.

You have case studies to write-up but they aren’t worth the paper they are written on I’m afraid.
Because you are not qualified in that field. A Chartered Physiotherapist has studied that field in an actual University and is qualified to do so.

Actually that reminds do me, a 'mother of 3 kids I know ’ took her smallest to her GP and he prrscribed anti biotics. She didn’t give them to her child because she hadn’t time to collect them (selfish person and bad mother) and the child showed signs of recovery on day 2 and progressed further each day with a bit of tlc and some vitimen c.

What did you do to it?

As i said, no doubt physios have a great role. Like everything, there is good and bad. Dyagnosis, clinical rehab, acute joint injuries etc. Getting people back to “normal working ability” is what they do. What happens though, particularly with chronic injuries, is they treat symptons. Alot of them reject the notion that say for instance sitting all day is the cause of low back pain, neck pain, hamstring injuries in amateur sports etc. People who sit alot have to fight back at that with exercise. Alot of physios don’t know how to being people beyond basic exercises that short term fix this.

Qualified in what field? Physios are regulated by who? Other Physios!!! :joy:

I’m just getting people healthy. I am qualified to get people healthy, stronger, fitter etc.

And thats the issue. Many physios don’t know how to do that with modern society. Thats the simple reality.

And the case studies will be worth the money i get out of them. And i think thats what pisses you and insecure physios off.

What body are you responsible to if you don’t mind me asking. Physiotherapy is a profession with set standards and practises. It’s covered in legislation in the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005.

FPI (Fitness Professionals Ireland)

Quals recognised by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), same as physio or anyone else and European Credit Transfer Accumulation System (ECTS).
Also recognised by the NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association).

Would like there to be more recognition and accountability and as a “new” profession it certainly has a long way to go in terms of regulation.

Any other questions.

Yes. Without any of this can I still call myself a personal trainer ?

Ok Dan,keep it on topic

How do you find caps to fit your head? Is it frustrating not being able to source clothing to fit your massive head?

You probably can ya. Weekend online course and some dodgy insurance company will take your money.

A long way from what i do though. My aim, and i am not alone in this and its happening everywhere, is to bring more evidence based practice to exercising the general public.

Usually online. It is tough being a straight talker.

Just to reiterate, you have zero qualifications that allow you or equip you to refer ‘your patients’ to other medical practitioners. You don’t know what you are doing because 2 years ago you were slating roofs in Australia while getting some Sports teams fit in the evenings and that combined with some sort of a certificate from a makeyuppey online ‘college’ in a discipline that is no more than an overused buzzword does not qualify you to refer ‘your patients’ to anywhere other than other medical ‘quacks’.
