The Official TFK Father's Issues Thread. I don't know how they do it

Do you and your wife both work? Have you a decent garden? Are you fond of cleaning up shit? All serious questions. My sister and her partner got a dog recently. If they could i think theyd be reversing that decision.

The cleaning up the shit is a vile task alright

Thanks. I’ll get back to you later, just out for a walk now, I’d love a dog to take along.

If she didn’t have 4 kids under 10 at home she probably would tag along mate.

:astonished:

With strangers maybe. Not a bother with their owners in my experience. Never had any biting issues with ours either.

We got a cockapoo this time last year. Doesn’t shed and great temperament with the kids. Need to get him groomed every so often

I’d tend to agree with @Juhniallio though. Not sure how much experience you have with dogs as a pet. Fantastic pets but a huge amount of work. Do you have someone to mind them if you went on holiday for example. And you can’t get anything too big unless you have the space.

Kids will love it alright.

Labradors are great pets but they could shit for Ireland and you could spend your life cleaning up the hairs they shed and still not have got the half of it. They are as loyal as the days are long though and put up with any amount of grief from youngsters and never so much as bat an eyelid.

The lad I have now is a tiny cross breed terrier that I got from the pound. Low maintenance. Doesn’t eat much, doesn’t shit much and doesn’t shed at all. Great temperament. A bit yappy but that doesn’t bother me, I have a pet corrector that I use if it gets out of hand.

It’s pot luck with dogs sometimes. Even a seemingly well bred dog can be a wrong one and anyone I’ve got from the pound has been great.

I’d heartily recommend having a dog. It’ll change your life as a family in ways you never thought possible. Just one caveat. Think about who will mind it if you go away on holidays. Kennels can be like prisons.

Apologies @backinatracksuit.

I couldn’t resist. Personally I would advise against getting a dog

How much a night a kennel in Dublin? Some money in it at 30 quid a night locally here

A kennel is 15-20

Would love to get a dog but the minding when away is an issue and half the kids are afraid of dogs.

Terrier cross. Wouldn’t recommend the Pound with kids so young. Terriers can be yappy & nip back if provoked but shouldn’t be an issue if ye buy a pup.

Great dogs to sit with kids.

A lady friend of mine minds my dog when I am away so I wouldn’t know what a kennel costs.

I’d get an ex racing greyhound. Absolutely no doubt

I’d never hit a dog you cunt. It’s a canister of compressed air that gets on his nerves and he immediately stops what he is doing.

My wife is on a career break for another 18 months or so so she’ll be around, the back garden is about 20 yards by 10.
One of the kids is clean mad about dogs, it seems unfair to deny her when we could manage, the holidays are a problem alright but we’d find a way around it.

My wife is really keen on the Maltese, that fella looks amazing @TheUlteriorMotive.
