The Official TFK Scapegoats Thread

A thread to list the various scapegoats that are used in Ireland.

Can be an individual or group/team. Please include justification so there’s no confusion.

I’ll kick off. Dungarvan GAA, the only team in the country that is being stripped of anything despite countless reports of GAA teams breaking or taking a very relaxed attitude towards stopping the spread of COVID19.

A load of bollocks

Speak for your own club. Thinks seem to be done properly around here as far as I can see and hear.

Can the mods please change the thread title to “ Unofficial “ ASAP

yes mate, how dare a team that spread a deadly disease face punishment

Didn’t they admit to breaking the rules?

what rules? And what was the sanction for breaking rules? This is an entirely make it up as you go along scenario. I dont at all excuse them for what they did, the contravened health advice, but I fail to see what GAA rule they broke and the sanction being broken is to forfeit a championship victory.

My own club had a covid issue with a player, he self isolated and had a test. He got the result on the Thursday before the Saturday game and the co board were informed and they said he is ok to play, but because the HSE advise further isolation after that, the club took the view to follow that and he didnt line out. It was the right thing to do. But there were no specific GAA rules over it.

Let the country punish them if they see fit, not the GAA

It’s disgraceful the way Mickey Harte has been scapegoated … @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy

A definite case of overreaction from the GAA due to the actions of other clubs following off field celebrations.

Would that I could

They did. They actually admitted to being even more stupid than anyone running a Club or Society could be, and highlighted an inability to understand plain english.

they knowingly played a player who was at risk of infecting other players to help them win a match.

the gaa as a collective had to follow these rules in order to allow games to go ahead. This club knowingly breached this collective effort for self gain and at risk to others and also at risk to future games for other clubs.

More scapegoats please and less of the discussion that is already taking place elsewhere.

I’ll go with ‘wet pubs’.

That would have been a great one to start off with.
