Ok they messed up but FFS title stripping I give up, next in line of sportsmen should publicly decline the promotion or title etc if granted
I understand all that. I’m not here to make excuse for them as I think they were totally wrong in what they did.
I’m asking, what GAA rule did they break and what rule did they break that means forfeiture of a championship?
the citizens of ireland are being scapegoated for the plethora of failings in govt, the health service and NPHET
It appears they have proposed the penalties under Rule 7.2 (e) of the Official Guide: “Misconduct Considered to have Discredited the Association”. For a team or unit, disqualification may be considered and for individuals a minimum eight-week suspension.
Dungarvan decided not to dispute it because they hadn’t a leg to stand on
That’s the biggest one.
Most countries just reckon that the virus is spreading in schools and aren’t trying to blame their public.
Dungarvan club was wrong. Simple.
Many other clubs omitted players in similar circumstances
They tried to gain an unfair advantage over their rivals. I dont feel sorry for them.
Is it not just a fudge? They didn’t award it to the runners up either. Will they still get promoted?
no promotion. I think they just null and voided the 2020 intermediate championship.

They decided not to dispute it because of the backlash they would receive. Sure the whole country is blaming the GAA as a whole for the increased cases, the backlash they had already got was massive, they would have been completely slammed if they did anything to challenge it. They’ve put in a catch all clause to issue against them, but considering many other teams did similar, it seems at odds that the only club facing any sanction is them. Again, I’m not excusing them at all, what they did I think was hugely wrong and makes a fuck of other teams who did the right thing, but it opens up a can of worms for something where they did not break a specific rule. I think what they did was wrong, it doesnt sit right that they were the only team to be expelled.

The outbreak in Lifford Stranorlar in September was because a publican, who had kept open behind closed through the 1st lockdown, arranged for packed buses of people to go on nights out drinking in Strabane and Derry.
House parties were being held all over the region, off licences made a killing. So to say that the public are bring scapegoated is idiotic in the extreme.
Sessions, that should not have taken place, after Co finals all over the country.
Make no mistake, we brought this second lockdown on ourselves.
sure, all of this resulted in the failure to invest in the health service, to build capacity in ICU during the summer months and to only look at the stats for epidemiology rather than look at the societal implications from a holistic point of view
I wonder how easy it is to build ICU capacity?
John Delaney
I heard someone from the HSE recently tackle Cullinane of SF on this saying that it simply isn’t a case of putting some more beds in rooms. People have to be trained, adequate services and support have to be put in place and it’s a process that would take years in normal circumstances never mind during a pandemic.
I’d imagine that’s the case alright.
This is the perfect example of the waffle that someone who has spent too long in the civil service will come out with when backed in to a corner.
