Did Collins miscontrol and have it knocked back into his path by the last defender?
Knocked it from his right foot off his left shin which put him in the clear
It was a good auld goal. But i would say he only bate one fella really, he just ran past the others from a distance. Nice finish was the best of it. He looks a lover player. Hopefully he gets out of Burnley quickly
Vincent Kompany will build a new side around him
Jason Mcateerâs goal to put us two up away to Holland was a fantastic bit of build up play and an outstanding finish
It would have to be Robbie vs Germany for the sheer drama of it. And i didnât even see it live. Fucking junior cert
Fuck me, were the exams still going ahead during the matches!?
Getting up early in the morning.
Robbie Keane scored a dinger away to Netherlands back in the day
This was a bloody great goal and as an added bonus it has the late, great John Hall of showjumping fame commentating on it.
Fucking hell. I was in a summer job in a shoe shop at the time. I remember going to Dolanâs Warehouse in Limerick to watch it as I had a day off. They forgot to hand out plastic glasses so when the goal went in, a huge amount of glasses just smashed.
For the Saudi Arabia game, our mean owners wouldnât close the shop even though town was dead. After a while, we all just nipped across the road for an extended break at Nestorâs bar, now long gone.
I saw that at a friendâs flat (cc @backinatracksuit your Spurs drinking pal in Cork) on OâCurry Street in Limerick.
Myself and @Fran watched it in our place of work in Waterford. Our boss set up a crappy tv with terrible reception in his office. As soon as the game ended and it went to an add break, he turns and says âwell i donât know about you guyâs, but im going back to workâ. So off we all toddled to our desks to do boring shit for the afternoon. Friend of mine in the Dublin based office texted to say they had it set up on a big screen outside and were horsing into bottles of beer. We were lucky to get a cornetto from the xtravision store next door. Great times!
That was actually a poor ball from was it Lawrence from the free kick? Skipping across the surface rather than rolled. Probably the greatest goal ever scored all things considered.
We all got brought to the Vaults in the IFSC by our manager for an early lunch that turned into an afternoon session and back to one of the girls flats for a party.
An older woman asked what should she do if she didnât like football. The manager told her to go shopping or something
Great days!
The Spain game was on a damp Sunday afternoon from what I recall. I was on the rollover from the night before
After the Saudi Arabia game four of us went on a session in town from about half three to about half 11, ending up in the Portobello. One of the lads said he was going to Korea for the Spain game. He didnât go. We went back to his gaff in Rathmines to drink vodka in the kitchen. After 20 minutes an Australian dude comes down the stairs to tell us to shut up. After another 15 minutes of drunken whispering he came down the stairs again shouting at us to get out. The other three of us got out.
Fuckin pegged that.
It was an incredible strike. In the fullness of time Glenn will be recognised as one of our all time greats.
