The Pay Your Respects to Dead Racehorses Thread

RIP Darlan. He’ll be jumping fences in the sky now.

Cab Sav will be there to meet him when he arrives.

If it’s any consolation…he was going well in the race before he abruptly died.

I’m sure that will be a huge help to his family when they’re informed.

With cheese please, hold the onion.

The bed of heaven to him/her/it.

Venture Capital won’t be making any further returns to a racecourse near you.

RIP old soldier.

As an aside, why are the horsey set so quick to blow the brains out of a horse / give it a lethal injection if it breaks a leg? Why not get its leg put in plaster of paris or something and nurse it back to health? This point completely refutes their argument about caring for these animals - they only care about them when they’re healthy, racing and bringing in prize money. But then they go and kill them as soon as they suffer an injury. What about standing by the horse and telling it that it’s still got an important role to play at the stable and work with it to get back to its best? Why should horses show owners and trainers any loyalty when they get nothing but a death sentence in return? Imagine Celtic had humanely killed Henrik Larsson after his leg break. Christ above.

It’s far kinder to a horse to put it down than it is to “fix” it’s broken leg.

What about cruciate knee ligament injuries for horses?

Horses have little to no chance of recovery after a leg break Bandage.

Fabrice Muamba was clinically dead, pal.

 Do some research kid.

I think you’ll find he was.

Clown.

So was our new coursing dog.

Which is why we have christened him SoundManMuamba

In relation to horse injuries you numpty.

Valid question by bandage, seems a bit harsh to kill an animal like that esp when you ser lots of other things like dogs getting legs mended in fact iv often seen a few 3 legged dogs who seemed happy to be struggling along and glad to be alive. That weirdo who bawled his head off after watching his horse break a leg might be able answer, think it was the dalai lama but not sure.
Surely most horses would chose to live bored out of their heads in a cast for 6 months on their holes on a stable somewhere if they were guaranteed to live out the rest of their days being spoilt rotten by their adoring owner if the alternative is a bullet.

They wouldn’t be bored out their heads for 6 months. They would be in agony for 6 months.
