Neighbours has some record of producing pop stars all the same.

Kylie is loved pretty much equally by the gays and the straights. If you dislike Kylie you don’t just hate life you hate the idea of life.

You mention 1999/2000 being her peak. She did the Olympics closing ceremony in Sydney and I thought she carried the whole thing.

She doesn’t sing this but she sort of steals the show at the same time.

Kylie was (is) gorgeous but it was her personality or the way she carried herself that made her an irresistible proposition.

You couldn’t be looking at Elle Mc(Mac?)Pherson with her Glasgow Rangers surname and her immovable, cold hearted Botox face.

Minogue is a good east Clare surname so she was of good stock.

This is an absolute belter of a tune. Kylie was in series 1 of this but not in series 2 as shown on Darcy’s Den circa October 1990.

I went up to Ryaner’s to watch that and we had a game of table football in the garage afterwards. It might have been the same night West Ham stuffed Liverpool 4-1 in the Littlewoods Cup. It was a big deal among the young single figure age telly watchers of little oul’ Ireland. I hadn’t even started watching Neighbours regularly by then but everybody knew about it.

Daphne dying in Neighbours in July 1989 (when I was still in single figures) was a very traumatic viewing experience but a great life lesson. The good thing about real death is you don’t have that sinister music playing like in Neighbours.
