Tony is the RTE ‘Soccer Correspondent’. Such is the pitiful state of soccer in Eire, they could really downgrade soccer at his stage. Hardly any need for a Soccer Correspondent anymore. A Rugby Correspondent would be more in order now.

He had been promoting Stephen Kenny as the messiah. He tore into previous managers after poor performances against mediocre teams. If he maintain journalistic balance he should have asked for Mr Kennys resignation after Ireland been beaten by Luxembourg. If Martin ONeill had been defeated by Luxembourg Tony would be leading the indignation.

The 28th ranked international side in Europe lost to the 39th ranked international side in Europe. Luxembourg I believe also had the most elite player between the two sides playing last night, the only player playing European Cup soccer this season. It was hardly that much of a shock result surely?
