The Prestigious Europa League 2015/2016 thread

Agreed. When weā€™re at home and teams are cautious we might survive. Once they get to attack us we just leak goals. The ineptitude of strikers in the SPL saves us from being too exposed there but we still cough up so many chances.

Were the goals from crosses again? Or just simple counter attacks? Or where our defensive midfielders were strolling back and our ineffective wingers were standing beside Griffiths?

Iā€™ll tell you after my run, mate.

Cheerio.

Spurs v Anderlecht is a decent game so far.
Pochettino has them running nicely at the moment.

1st goal: A cross from their left was headed by Blackett in the centre of the goal. He headed it up into the air and and diagonally back towards their left. It was landing just outside the box and Boyata should have charged out to stop yer man chesting it down and shooting but he stood upright and motionless with his arms behind his back, as if to ready himself to block the shot. Bitton didnā€™t get over from a central position and Commons didnā€™t get back from the wing so your man did indeed chest it down, let it bounce and stroked a nice shot past the statuesque Boyata and into the corner from 20 yards. A shit clearing header and nobody reacted after that.

2nd goal: A corner partially cleared out to their left. A ball was clipped into the back post and Rogic was caught under it. Their player chested it down and scuffed a cross shot that clipped Rogic and kind of drifted slowly across the goal at chest height. Some chap at the back post wrestled Blackett for it , won the battle of strength and turned it in from close range.

Sounds eerily familiar. Iā€™m guessing Boyata wasnā€™t living up to Gary Neville theory on not dangling a foot and was more being casual than thoughtful in his reticence for the first.

Iā€™ll decide overnight whether Ronny still has my backing. There are certainly recruitment problems that go beyond his area of responsibility but his formation is killing us and the players are badly underperforming. As I said before I could begin to understand it if we had blistering wingers that were causing problems and if we had an in form #10. But we donā€™t. We donā€™t have a solid midfield and we donā€™t have a great attacking one either.

Weā€™ve been short a solid midfielder since Ledley left and weā€™ve been short 2 centre backs for God knows how long.

How utterly useless was Griffiths tonight, heā€™s a great player when he has to take three immediate touches but give him the balls outside the danger area with players and space in his eyeline and he barely resembles a footballer.

Armstrong is pathetic, to think Stokes has been banished for this nothing footballer sums up the damage Deila is currently doing.

Johansen should have been dropped three months ago yet heā€™s the first name of the team sheet.

The three black centre backs should never play for us again, useless, spineless and nothing is ever going to improve with them.

Great winner by Dembele for Tottenham against Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Pochettino is slowly but steadily building on the great work done by Tim Sherwood down at the Lane.

Tottenham are becoming quite likeable these days.

The winner for Vienna against Plzen tonight.

Delivers a league title in the ultra competitive Scottish League in his first season and well on his way to retaining to the title having already established a commanding 7 point lead. I suppose those are the standards at a former European Champion club.
